Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Digital Applications Intern to join our Building Science & Innovation Team for a 12-week internship. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong coding and data analysis expertise, combined with an interest in building science, construction technology, and digital transformation. You will work closely with our Building Innovation Scientist, contributing to cutting-edge projects that integrate smart sensing systems, digital transformation, and automation in the building envelope solutions space.
This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work on real-world projects that leverage sensors, drone captures, thermal imaging, computer vision, machine learning, and web-based applications to develop innovative solutions for service digitalization and automation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement digital applications for building envelope solutions, incorporating automation, machine learning, and data science principles.
- Work with smart sensing systems, integrating sensor data for install verification and continuous monitoring.
- Support digital transformation projects, including drone capture analysis, thermal imaging, image processing, and automation for construction technology applications.
- Develop and optimize machine learning algorithms to improve automation and predictive analytics in building science.
- Utilize computer vision techniques for detecting and analyzing patterns in construction-related image data.
- Assist in the development of a web-based portal or mobile application for real-time monitoring and data visualization.
Education and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree (or in progress) in Computer Science, Data Science, Construction Management, Building Science, or a related field.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong fluency in modern coding practices and experience with relevant programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Machine Learning & Data Science: Understanding of machine learning algorithms, data analytics, and predictive modeling.
- Computer Vision & Image Processing: Hands-on experience with OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar libraries.
- Software Development: Familiarity with app development, web-based platforms, and API integrations.
- GitHub & Version Control: Ability to work with GitHub and adhere to industry coding best practices.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and visualize complex datasets.
- Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, communicate effectively, and document technical work clearly.
- Knowledge of Construction & Building Science (Preferred): Understanding of construction materials, building envelopes, and industry standards.
