Nutrition Services Assistant - Wildwood Hospital - Part Time - Variable

ProMedica Wildwood Orthopedic and Spine Hospital is the region�s first and only dedicated orthopedic specialty hospital. A division of ProMedica Toledo Hospital, our cutting-edge facility offers sports medicine, bone and joint care, physical therapy, and rehabilitation services, plus casting, radiology, and lab tests.

Position Summary: 

Performs area specific assigned duties to ensure food service to patients, employees, and visitors. Maintains area and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition. Knows and observes all safety and sanitation policies and procedures as they relate to specific area. Provides quality customer service. 

Accountabilities: 

Uses proper technique for pulling and rotating stock and labeling and dating of foods. Maintains foods at proper temperatures to assure safety and freshness following H.A.C.C.P. principles. Informs other duties, verbal or written, as assigned by a supervisor.

Tray Line Area

1. Readies tray service line for the appropriate meal. Portions food to patient tray from various stations on serving line according to diet and menu.
2. Prepares and delivers patient nourishments to the patient care area. Delivers meals to patient rooms and communal areas.
3. Performs various duties after tray service such as: pre-set trays, wash carts, ready foods for next meal, restock tray line.
4. Scrapes, soaks, washes and sanitizes pots and pans. Checks pans for cleanliness sort and deliver to assigned area. Operates and maintains pot machine and records temperatures.
5. Disposes trash. Uses good control and correct usage of detergents and cleaning supplies. Maintains cleanliness and order of areas. Follows sanitation codes.

Cafeteria Area

1. Provides fast, friendly, accurate and clean service to each customer. Acknowledges customers promptly and greets each customer with a smile.
2. Prepares foods and sets up service area as designed by timeline.
3. Ensure areas are replenished with food when and where needed.  Keeps foods looking fresh.
4. Must operate cash register according to departmental policies and procedures.
5. Ensures accurate and efficient sales transactions.  Knows and observes all conditions of the cash handler�s agreement.
6. Ensures proper signage is displayed. Have a working knowledge of food prices.
7. Performs minimal cooking (grill, fryer, pizza) methods to obtain a quality end product.
8. Completes cleaning assignment when scheduled and/or as needed.

Production Area

1. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation for production and all other dietary areas according to designated outlines in regard to floor and equipment.
2. Completes designated work timelines.
3. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all walk�in coolers.
4. Stocks inventory and fill dietary requisitions. Rotates stock and maintains the order and cleanliness of the dietary storage areas. Labels and dates foods per dietary policies.

Skills: 

Must have knowledge of weights and measurements. Requires the ability to make change and keep records accurately. Must be able to follow directions, communicate and respond to inquiries/requires effective interpersonal skills. Able to verbalize information to customers about product and/or recipe contents.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Education: HS diploma/GED preferred

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Must be able to move about the hospital and between workstations. Must be able tolerate exposure to temperature changes, humid/hot conditions and unpleasant orders. Must be able to work mops, brooms and trash mobiles. Must be able to occasionally move heavy carts and frequently lift light to medium weight equipment and supplies.
