Supports operating room and sterile processing through coordination of the case cart system. The Case Cart Technician is an integral part of the Sterile Processing Team. Th technician�s focus is on accurately and efficiently selecting and loading supplies to the OR case carts for each day�s surgical procedures including emergency case cart replenishment according to the established surgeon picklist.
ACCOUNTABILITIES *All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise* 1. Reviews OR Schedule daily and checks preference lists with updated schedule. Works closely with the OR Coordinators to ensure that preference picklists remain accurate. 2. Picks Surgical Case supplies for upcoming cases using the Surgeon Preference Picklist. Works with Sterile Processing Float Technician to add sterile instruments, complete case cart assembly, and deliver completed case cart to operating room or cart staging area. 3. Coordinates with Sterile Processing Float Technician to facilitate supply needs for case changes and add-ons to surgical schedule. 4. Keeps accurate list of supply items not available for setup completion and coordinates with Central Supply and Sterile Processing Supervisor/Manager to obtain needed supplies that are backorder/out of stock. 5. Coordinates with Sterile Processing Float Technician and assists with sending/delivering additional supplies to the operating room. 6. Assists with receiving incoming supplies and restocking supply returns. 7. Communicates location and supply level suggestions/changes and problems to Sterile Processing Supervisor/Manager. 8. Examines all received supplies for expiration dates, package defects, or any visible damage that may compromise sterility. 9. Ensures the general cleaning of department surface areas, racks, shelves, storage bins and all storage areas. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills: Knowledge of medical surgical supplies and basic computer skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Must be able to tolerate frequent exposure to latex and latex products. Must be able to tolerate possible exposure to hazardous materials and blood borne pathogens. Physical Demands: Must be able to move about hospital facility and between workstations. Must be able to frequently move, lift or carry light to medium heavy to heavy weight objects and materials.
