Job Summary:

BioMarin is seeking a Senior Alliance Manager to lead and manage BioMarin's strategic partnerships. The role will report to the Director, Alliance Management.

You will be part of the team responsible for managing our strategic alliances and ensuring we are optimizing the value created with our current and future partners. This role serves as the main point of contact with our strategic alliance partners that you manage and works with the BioMarin leadership team to define and realize the objectives of our alliances.

The new hire will gain exposure with cross functional groups (e.g. research, clinical development, regulatory, legal/IP, finance, and commercial) around the globe both within BioMarin and with our external partners.

Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee internal and external facing project teams to execute on the obligations of strategic alliance agreements and allow for proactive decision making
Create additional value within alliances, facilitate the creation of mutual trust with partners, and proactively manage collaboration risks
Communicate partner updates and proactively identify potential risks to senior leadership in an effective way
Manage and execute governance committee meetings with strategic partners as well as lead the development of any necessary progress reports.
Develop scalable processes with cross functional working team to effectively manage the tracking of contractual obligations
Understand partner interests and work to align incentives between organizations
Manage contract negotiations with existing partners
Provide input into partnership execution terms of new partner contracts
Coach and guide internal cross functional alliance team members in effective collaboration best practices
Establish operating practices for tracking milestones and metrics

Core Competencies, Demonstrated Success & Qualifications

7+ years of relevant experience required
Past experience in biotech required
MBA or other relevant advanced degree is a plus, not required
Demonstrated ability to successfully oversee cross functional teams
Experience presenting and delivering recommendations to senior leadership teams both orally and written
Strong EQ combined with scientific/technical acumen
Robust understanding of the full drug development process, life-cycle management and commercialization of therapeutics (rare disease preferred)
Form trusting, collaborative and strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners with skills in assertion, negotiation, influencing, tact and diplomacy
Able to integrate feedback in a professional manner and thrives in multidisciplinary teams with members with highly diverse backgrounds
Ability to think strategically and demonstrate data-driven decision-making
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects to meet strategic business objectives
Attention to detail to identify key details from contracts to author summary documents, track milestones and other obligations
Occasional travel may be necessary for alliance partner meetings
Role requires 2 days onsite per week in San Rafael, CA.

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 132,200 to $ 198,400 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A discretionary bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
