Resp & Qualifications The ideal candidate will reside in the footprint in which we operate Washington DC, Virginia, or Maryland (DMV). Our office is headquartered in Baltimore City, MD. PURPOSE: The Director of Vendor Management is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing both procurement operations and vendor management services, handling high level procurement escalations, supporting business owners in their procurement needs, managing the renewal cycle and providing leadership to CareFirst's third-party vendor management strategy and execution. the Director helps to build the vendor management office at CareFirst and will partner proactively and collaborate with leaders and internal stakeholders across all business units to ensure that the management of vendors is executed consistently and efficiently cross all levels and to proactively and positively influence behaviors. The Director will be responsible for employing appropriate strategies to reduce vendor risk, improve vendor performance, maximize value and decrease cost within vendor relationships. The Director will implement best practices in vendor management within the team and extend these practices across the organization. Additionally, the Director will establish analytics for top vendors and actively manage third party risk and spend. The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized and experienced in establishing and leading teams, with a strong background in procurement and/or vendor management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position manages people. QUALIFICATIONS: Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience. Experience: 8 years experience in purchasing, procurement, supplier collaboration, development and/or compliance. 3 years management experience. Preferred Qualifications:
