Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift
$3,000 Sign-On Bonus!
Carlisle Construction Materials, a worldwide leader in manufacturing premium building products and related technology, has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician at its Franklin Park location. This 3rd shift position is responsible for ensuring that facilities and production equipment are properly maintained to minimize downtime while prioritizing safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance, repair, and rebuilding of electrical equipment, motors, and production machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair failures of production and facility equipment to ensure smooth operation.
- Evaluate electrical equipment performance, identifying and implementing necessary improvements.
- Maintain plant electrical systems, including mixers, conveyors, compressors, hydraulics, motors, pneumatics, automated controls, and pumps.
- Install, maintain, and repair control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, and motor starters.
- Complete process and preventive maintenance work orders, capturing and communicating associated data.
- Monitor and maintain plant utilities, including chillers, air compressors, security systems, and fire protection systems.
- Enhance electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills, calibrating controls instrumentation as needed.
- Set up and operate power tools, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking equipment.
- Assist in fabrication and modification of new and existing equipment.
- Adhere to regulatory, company, and departmental policies and safety protocols, including OSHA and PSM standards.
- Support mechanical maintenance technicians in developing their electrical skills.
- Execute assigned projects as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret industrial documents and electrical schematics.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, AC/DC drives, VFDs, and level controls.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting industrial electrical AC/DC systems.
- Experience with industrial machinery, including motors, compressors, pumps, gearboxes, and hydraulics.
- Familiarity with CMMS, SAP, and Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to use electrical instrumentation, such as a megohmmeter.
- Understanding of HVAC, fluid motion systems, dust collection, robotics, and metering systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork mindset, and willingness to train others.
- Knowledge of electrical codes (NEMA, etc.) and industrial safety protocols.
- Safety certifications and the ability to safely operate mobile equipment.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical school certification preferred.
- Experience as an electrical technician in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Military technical specialties will be considered.
Working Conditions:
- Work occurs within an insulation manufacturing facility with exposure to:
- Varying ambient/outside temperatures.
- Nuisance dust, chemicals, mechanical parts, and pinch points.
- Industrial machinery noise.
- Typical Schedule: 40 hours per week with overtime as needed.
- Shift: 3rd shift (days/nights may vary based on facility needs). Sunday-Thursday.
- Training schedule: Combination of 1st & 2nd shifts.
- Fast-paced, 24/7 operation requiring adaptability.
