Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading building envelope solution supplier that effectively drives energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are seeking a 2nd shift Maintenance Technician in our Kimberton, PA Plant.
Shift: 1pm - 9:30pm
Job Summary The Maintenance Technician works independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventive, predictive and routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment and building fully operational. Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform needed maintenance on equipment and direct support of production operating needs • Evaluate equipment operation and suggest necessary action when malfunctions occur, or improvements are needed • Participate in planning activities and manage various plant utilities that can include chiller, steam boiler, thermal oil heaters, air compressors, security system & fire protection system • Complete process and preventive maintenance work orders. Capture and communicate associated data • Maintain plant machinery and equipment such as mixers, conveyors, compressors, hydraulics, motors, pneumatics, automated controls and pumps • Troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment. • Develop knowledge of electrical and PLC troubleshooting • Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, etc. as needed • Set up and operate power tools, drill motor, circular saw, welders, drill press, bench grinder, band saw, hand tools and other metal working equipment • Assist with fabrication and modification of new and existing equipment • Comply and participate regulatory, Carlisle, & departmental policies, procedures, & standards (PSM, safety protocols, COS) • As directed execute projects on an as needed basis Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: •
Working Conditions: • Activities occur inside a building materials manufacturing facility • Temperatures exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures • Nuisance dust, use of chemicals, working with mechanical parts, pinch points • Noise of industrial machinery • Typically 40 hour per week with overtime as required • Fast paced operation
- Strong in Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in production and plant equipment
- Piping experience consisting of cutting, threading, and installations.
- Experience with pump troubleshooting, rebuilding, repair, and replacement, installing and rebuilding progressive cavity, diaphragm, and gear driven pumps.
- Working knowledge of steam boilers and thermal oil heaters, their application(s) and controls.
- Working knowledge of industrial air compressors and pneumatic piping.
- Use of electrical, air driven, and manual hand tools and/or equipment Use of arc welders, acetylene torches, and various other open flame
- Pipe fitting and pipe welding
- Trouble shooting equipment and/or process skills to define problems and create or offer solutions to repair/replace that are both safe and cost effective.
- Cleanliness and organizational skills at work site level and maintenance shop.
- Preventive Maintenance of equipment, as well as ability to determine and implement new Preventive Maintenance procedures as required.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly check list(s) as required and Complete T3P Personal Risk Assessment Forms, Safety Task Planner, and Good Catch Form daily
- Be a self-starter and be able work to with little or no management supervision. Able to follow directions clearly and concisely.
- Asphalt plant and processing knowledge is a strong plus.
- Ability to communicate needs, repair requirements and issues to plant leadership in a clear and concise manner. Good written and verbal skills required. Computer skills a plus.
- The ability to apply OSHA and Henry Co/Carlisle safety standards and regulations to everyday applications; Example is Lock out, Tag out, and Try or Confined space.
- General knowledge of PLC technology.
- The ability to read and understand electrical schematics, piping, and mechanical drawings and/or blueprints. Computer literacy is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Electrical applications and processes of motor starter(s), Controls, Variable frequency drives, electrical circuits, and electrical panels. Working knowledge 480-3 phase voltage as it pertains to motors and industrial equipment.
- Flexibility in changing job and Schedule requirements as directed by equipment or process needs.
- Strong background in mechanical, repair, and maintenance. Work overtime as needed, weekends, including emergency calls. A team player approach and the ability to work well with others.
Additional requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical technician experience.
- A high school diploma or equivalent. Some college or technical training beyond high school is a plus.
- The ability to: Operate all hand tools such as drills, grinders, saws, etc.
