Your Role: As a Competitive Intelligence P&C Insurance Analyst you will be focused on Personal Lines insurance product development and management, including but not limited to, auto, property, and umbrella, you will drive analytical research, insights, and competitive intelligence for all aspects of product performance across our footprint. Continually seek ways to use data to spot trends and opportunities and use this to recommend ways to improve product performance, underwriting discipline and sales. In addition, drive a variety of ad hoc analysis, financial projections, and report building. Together, the team will deliver modern products, competitive prices, and top tier experiences for CSAA customers and agents.

Your work:

Data analytics
  • Work as a team member to complete ad hoc, deep dive analysis on a variety of projects, utilizing analytic methods and technical skills needed for solving unstructured problems and complex analysis.
  • Perform complex tasks including research, modeling, data collection and data visualization.
  • Prepare presentations and proposals for senior leadership that translate complex concept into simple conclusions.
  • Develop and maintains documentation on code and related processes.
  • Design scorecards and reports on a regular schedule to keep product managers and senior leadership aware of trends and opportunities.
  • Partner with actuaries, data scientists and analysts in state product management to adhere to data governance and data quality standards.

Product Development and Management
  • Act as resource and expert on internal and external Auto-related data, including vehicles-in-force, mix of business, claims frequency and severity, retention, new business quotes and binds, etc.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve processes, access to auto-related data and speed to insights.
  • Research and prepares proposals for acquisition and retention strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Drive and deliver a set of competitive intelligence research.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. May participate in larger projects and/or assume responsibility for a portion of projects.
  • Develop and manages controls to ensure operational processes are working as expected.
  • Champion our countrywide product vision.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Actuarial, State Management, Marketing, Operations and Legal to deliver modern products, competitive prices and top tier experiences.

Strategic Innovation and Growth
  • Support research of vendors and strategic partnerships to further innovation and expense management.
  • Lead competitive analysis and drives understanding of market dynamics for multiple states and/or markets.

Required Experience, Education and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in SAS, SQL, Python, Snowflake, Visual Basic, Power BI and various structured analysis and design techniques
  • Proficiency in data visualization techniques
  • 3+ years of professional analytical experience working with insurance products or consumer products and services.
  • Business and technical writing skills (e.g., proposals, PowerPoint presentations)
  • Financial analysis experience - skilled in budgets, cost estimates, cost benefit analysis, and reporting
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills

The national average salary range for this position is $80,000-$89,000. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $72,000 - $106,000. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 7% of eligible pay.
