Job Summary

The Accounting Manager position with Carlisle Architectural Metals (CAM) provides accurate analysis and timely reporting in support of the Architectural Metals businesses. The role helps drive strategic initiatives to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize profitability while ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in month-end CAM month-end accounting close.
  • Support the CAM Controller in analyzing and generating CAM financial statements prior to release.
  • Play key back up role for all journals generated by CAM Controller.
  • Assist CAM Controller in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley mandated requirements including account reconciliations and variance analysis for monthly presentation to Carlisle Internal Audit.
  • Prepare various Electronic Audit Evidence packets monthly, as well as fulfill various ad-hoc internal and external audit requests.
  • Partner with operations management on compilation and analysis of annual manufacturing budgets.
  • Partner with operations management to monitor plant controllable expenses on a weekly cadence.
  • Generate expense and absorption variance reports to drive margin management and cost improvement.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize labor and overhead efficiency by site.
  • Work with various departments, including finance, procurement, production, and operations, to drive improvement in financial performance.
  • Assist with providing information for year-end reporting for corporate accounting and tax staff.
  • Prepare operations management reports including monthly Budget Performance Reports.
  • Key role as Accounting Department representative on Division Planning Team analyzing manufacturing footprint options and analysis.
  • Serve as liaison for CAM Accounting department improvements with counterparts in larger CCM Accounting department for purposes of advancing CAM initiatives.
  • One current direct report: CAM Cost Analyst. Includes oversight of standard cost rolls on quarterly cadence (with goal of monthly rolls). Also includes playing key role of working with CAM Inventory Management Team for transitioning to approved cycle count program instead of physical inventories.
  • Assist with maintenance of standard labor and overhead rates with proper backup/ audit trails.
  • For purposes of achieving the CAM Rate of Invested Capital (ROIC) goal, oversee Appropriation Capital Expenditure (ACE) financial analysis as generated by the CAM Cost Accountant. This includes coordination of Capital Expenditure management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory activities. Travel involved especially in Q4.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.


Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Experience in manufacturing accounting is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance.
  • Five to Seven years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.

Travel Requirement:

  • Up to 15% travel is required for this position. Will be expected to participate in physical inventories, on-site workshops and meetings as needed.
