Description

The Engineering Intern will provide dedicated support to the Central Engineering group on a variety of projects related to the manufacturing of building construction materials. The area of focus could be the membrane, insulation, or metals divisions depending on what division contains the best opportunity for support. As time nears the start of the internship, the employer's goal will be to identify a project that meets the intern's field of study and allows for limitless results during their internship. Common engineering focuses are listed below.

  • Analyzing and evaluating existing manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Working with project management and communication tools
  • Developing problem statements and project ideation to address known issues or objectives
  • Designing, specifying, quoting, and installation of new equipment or processes
  • Improving operations through automation and Industry 4.0 tools


Essential Duties & Responsbilities

  • Work in a team environment; effective team member
  • Field work such as evaluating or information gathering, may include travel to remote facilities with a mentor
  • Attend design review and project meetings
  • Use of Autodesk design software such as Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Excellent time management skills and work ethic
  • Support Engineering Department on project work
  • Document work performed
  • Communicate needs to vendors for quoting

Time Worked & Travel:

  • Hours Worked: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. | 40 hours/week
  • Maximum of 1 week of travel per internship to support project related work.


Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used

  • Clear (non-tinted), Gasketed Safety Glasses
  • Steel-Toe Shoes
  • High-Visibility Safety Vest


Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • Candidate pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Electro-Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
  • Candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills.
