Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading supplier of building envelope solutions that effectively drive energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are looking for a Sourcing/Commodity Manager, located in our Garland, TX office.
Job Summary:
The CWT Commodity Manager is responsible for developing strategies, coordinating initiatives, and continuously enhancing the supply chain infrastructure for CWT. Key responsibilities include establishing sourcing and supplier selection activities, implementing category strategies, and conducting negotiation activities through Supplier Relationship Management or other programs. The manager also develops and executes risk management and mitigation policies to ensure a consistent supply chain. Additionally, the Commodity Manager focuses on continuous improvement within the supply base by enhancing supplier reporting, conducting audits, eliminating sole-source suppliers, and fostering strong interactions with suppliers. This role drives ongoing improvement initiatives across the supply chain at CWT. Furthermore, the CWT Commodity Manager works to enhance performance and cost efficiency while ensuring compliance with all policies, practices, and procedures related to supply chain initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a sourcing and procurement strategy tailored to various spending categories.
- Implement Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and other programs focused on spend management, enhancing the supply base, and improving cost efficiency.
- Align or cultivate supplier capacity and capabilities to meet business demands.
- Drive supplier productivity and performance by engaging both supplier and customer teams.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to support new product development, mitigate supplier risks, and assist with new product lines, including conducting supplier visits when necessary.
- Lead supply chain initiatives related to organizational projects such as manufacturing transfers between facilities, and new supplier processes that support Lean initiatives and process improvements.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customers on identified Value Engineering initiatives. Communicate and implement engineering changes or designs with suppliers. Reduce costs through monitoring and tracking supplier value analysis, value engineering efforts, and operational efficiency opportunities.
- Develop policies and lead teams to support business processes, including quoting activities, New Product Introduction (NPI), special project purchasing activities, supplier evaluation and selection, management of supplier quote responses, cost estimate support, and the placement of initial long lead time purchase orders required for new business. Ensure supply chain processes facilitate timely problem resolution and ongoing business needs.
- Manage and prioritize companywide RFQs, supplier initiatives, negotiations, and improve the performance of plant supply chain departments by applying Lean strategies.
- Ensure accurate product information is maintained in ERP systems to support ongoing business operations and New Products.
- Establish sources and costs for identified components and make/buy decisions involving third parties. - Maintain continuous communication with the supply base regarding policies for schedule changes, expediting and de-expediting orders, and overall supplier performance. Report and track supplier qualification, both internal and external.
- Facilitate and manage supplier issues related to cost, quality, delivery, and customer service.
- For all new business, ensure that customer requirements are effectively communicated and flowed down to the supply base.
- Optimize working capital and cash flow through improved on-time delivery, lead-time reduction, and other Lean management practices at both supplier and plant sites.
- Drive the implementation of Supply Chain Excellence.
Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

Education and Experience:
- Required:
- Education : Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Production/Operations Management, or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and business experience.
- Experience : Five to ten years of progressive experience in an inventory management or related role with extensive experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in a strategic setting in a mid or large size organization.
- Two to four years most recent experience related to chemical or building materials industry preferred.
- Preferred:
- APICS (CPIM, CIRM, CSCP or CLTD) certification preferred.

- Exposure to raw materials and chemicals used in the plant.
- Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 plus hours per week. Some evening and weekend work is required.
Travel Requirement:
- Travel to other facilities estimated at 25%.
