Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading building envelope solution supplier that effectively drives energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are seeking an EHS Specialist in our Wylie, TX Plant.

This position will be responsible for coordinating and executing the environmental, health, and safety activities that support the corporate initiative in each of the Ajax, Kitchener and Winnipeg Operations. This includes being directly responsible for the creation, adoption, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the facility environmental, safety, and health, as well as appropriate policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the EHS programs and initiates activities that will improve the level of personnel safety and health and environmental compliance.
  • Develop and administer EHS training for all employees (if required, including outside sales personnel, office, )
  • Follow incident management processes and conduct timely incident investigations and ensure timely reporting.
  • Resource expert on EHS regulatory requirements, corporate policies and procedures and the and adoption into SOP's and WI's.
  • Create and execute employee training programs to reduce operational risks.
  • Ensure that all corrective actions and recommendations are completed and communicated within the expected timeframe. Examples include the following: incident investigation actions, audit findings, maturity assessments, and safety committee
  • Review and update the EHS policies and procedures in accordance with Company policies and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain WHMIS and GHS requirements for hazard communication and keep MSDS current.
  • Coordinate Industrial Hygiene surveys as required (air, noise, ergonomics, )
  • Ensure required EHS documentation is completed for all new processes, materials, and equipment including SOPs, JSA's, and LOTO
  • Coordinate operational First Aid training requirements and records.
  • Review safety related documents and narratives such as Safety Committee minutes, inspection reports, forklift inspection checklists, accident investigation reports, and near miss reports
  • Keep records of all employee training, corrections of unsafe conditions, and dates and results of workplace Maintain and submit documentation as required.
  • Maintain all weekly, monthly, and yearly safety inspections
  • Maintain all hazardous material and hazardous material area checks
  • Management representative for ISO 14001 / 9001 certifications
  • Oversee all yearly updates to the safety program, including the Safety Manual, Injury Illness Prevention Plan, Emergency Procedures Manual, and the Emergency Contingency Plan

Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
  • Minimum of valid certification for Standard Intermediate First Aid
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of OHSA regulations and other provincial and federal EHS regulations.
  • Experience with formal problem solving and root cause
  • Ability to function in a team environment, work well with others, handles multiple priorities and projects as necessary.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required in environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or related field preferred.
  • Three years EHS experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Without a Bachelor's degree, seven years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

Working Conditions:
  • Significant time is spent on the production floor (60%).
  • Exposure to varying temperatures in manufacturing
  • Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 Facilitating training on other shifts occasionally required.
Travel Requirement:
This position will support and/or be accountable for the ISO 14001 and/or ISO 9001 management systems. This includes support for other Carlisle sites as an internal auditor. Internal auditor training and development are provided. The position may also need to provide support for select initiatives at other Carlisle sites or attend training. Travel would be less than 15%.
