As a Construction Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission of building homes, communities, and hope through affordable housing solutions. You will represent our organization by interacting with volunteers, donors, homeowners, and community members throughout the community and on the construction site. Responsibilities: On-Site Construction: Lead and train volunteers, staff, and homeowners on construction tasks while maintaining safety standards Assist with managing job site safety and security issues Assist in daily pickup and delivery of tools and materials Assist with maintaining and organizing the warehouse locations. Other duties assigned Administrative: Assist construction staff in scheduling of labor, tools, and materials Develop an understanding of build schedule, to ensure on time project completion Alignment with Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City's values: Humility - We are part of something bigger than ourselves Courage - We do what's right, even when it is difficult or unpopular Accountability - We take personal responsibility for Habitat's mission Other duties assigned Qualifications: Experience: 2 years of experience in residential construction Knowledge of web-based applications Experience working with volunteers is a plus Leadership experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Valid driver license and safe driving record Ability to work in a high-production construction schedule with competing priorities Ability to complete Habitat for Humanity International Competent Person training certificate Basic understanding of the IRC, including the IECC Able to respond to emergency situations calmly and effectively Must be able/willing to work Saturdays PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individual may need to sit or stand as needed; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The individual may intermittently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
