Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Infection Preventionist (Non-RN) **2 years of infection prevention experience required**.

Under the guidance of the Director of Infection Prevention and Control, the Non-RN Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for ensuring a safe environment by identifying and minimizing infection risks for patients, employees, and visitors at all NYU Langone Health patient care delivery sites. The IP works collaboratively with healthcare teams to implement evidence-based infection prevention measures.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct surveillance and assist in outbreak investigations.
  • Collect and analyze data, report diseases to public health agencies.
  • Ensure infection prevention policies are being followed by conducting rounds in clinical areas.
  • Monitor microbiology results for potential healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
  • Participate in investigations and epidemiologic studies.
  • Review patient charts for HAIs and apply NHSN definitions to report through electronic systems.
  • Review and ensure compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Assist with infection control-related aspects of construction planning and ICRAs.
  • Provide consultation to healthcare providers on infection prevention measures.
  • Help with policy reviews and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Conduct unit-based rounds


Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Microbiology or related field. Minimum of two years of experience in infection prevention or related field. Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) required within 3 years.

Required Licenses: Certn Board of Infection Control

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree In Nursing, Public Health or Allied Field. Membership in the Association for Professional in Infection Prevention and Epidemiology Inc. Solid body of knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, principles of adult education.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $112,360.00 - $132,500.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
