In this role, you will:
The Biorepository Coordinator is responsible for the organization and management of a biorepository, the facility that collects, stores, and manages biological samples for research.
- Responsible for receiving, accessioning, and storing diverse biological samples (blood, FFPE tissue, frozen tissue, plasma, etc.) according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of samples, ensuring they are tracked and located efficiently.
- Coordinates shipping and receipt of samples to internal and external collaborators, ensuring proper packaging and documentation.
- Enter and maintain data in the biorepository database, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for all aspects of the biorepository operations, including sample accessioning, handling, processing, storage, and shipping.
- Ensure the quality of samples stored in the biorepository through proper handling, review, storage, and maintenance.
- Work with internal and external collaborators to meet their needs for sample access and utilization.
- Maintain biorepository equipment, including freezers and other storage devices, by following proper maintenance protocols.
- Adhere to all relevant protocols and guidelines for sample handling, storage, and shipping.
- Completes annual training programs within the required timeframe
- Maintains strictest confidentiality
- Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals
- Adherence to HIPAA, Safety and OSHA Regulations
All you need is:
- BA/BS science related degree preferred. Med-tech degree and certification desired.
- Experience working in laboratory or industry related fields
- Experience working in regulated environments with biological samples and processing
- Knowledge of general tissue biorepository policies and operations
- A valid state driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Emphasis on attention to detail
- Knowledge of basic medical and pathology terminology
