Your Role:

Do you enjoy risk management, CAT models and making a direct impact on business results? We are actively hiring for an ambitious Personal Lines Insurance Catastrophe Risk Product Manager to lead countrywide CAT risk management, including setting acceptable risk tolerances, developing appropriate pricing and underwriting actions to manage our CAT risk and executing those market strategies.

As a Catastrophe Risk Product Manager in the Personal Lines Property Strategy & Development team, you will manage multiple initiatives supporting personal lines property products to drive profitable growth and diversification. You will be responsible for shaping and driving our countrywide CAT management strategy and leadership of key initiatives to support that strategy. Core competencies for this role include risk assessment and analysis, product development, project management, cross-functional leadership, competitive and market intelligence, underwriting guidelines & controls, strategic thinking and stakeholder communication. You may own one or more lines of business/disciplines, such as flood and inflation, in addition to driving our countrywide CAT strategy.

We are open to product manager levels 1-3 for this role. Leveling will be determined through the interview process. (Salary Range will vary by job level)

Your work:

Product Development and Management
  • Manage overall product portfolio and product life cycles for a division or business unit.
  • Provide thought leadership to product development efforts with high value or high potential products.
  • Develop methodology and initiates changes to policies and guidelines which affect work, schedules, and budgets.
  • Manage all related policies and procedures.
  • Review competitive environment and understands market dynamics for multiple products, states, and or markets.
  • Lead complex or strategic product development or enhancement activities and champions our countrywide product vision.
  • Develop new products based on knowledge of products, consumers and competition.
  • Lead division or enterprise-wide projects.
  • Partner closely with Actuarial, State Management, Marketing, Operations and Legal to research and develop product enhancements.
  • Establish operational objectives for the most complex, highest value, high growth and/or high potential value products.
  • Act as resource and expert on core technical aspects of a line of business and/or the tools and techniques of Product Management.

Risk Assessment and Analysis
  • Evaluate and analyze various types of personal lines property catastrophic risks (e.g., wildfire, wind, hail, hurricane).
  • Use statistical and actuarial methods to assess the probability and potential impact of these events.
  • Define thresholds for acceptable accumulation and actively manage to ensure growth remains within acceptable tolerances.
  • Drive organizational understanding on the impacts of inflation to our total insured values and manage insurance-to-value of our book.

Strategic Innovation and Growth
  • Provide strategic organizational direction and develops long-range plans that impact a major area of the organization/company.
  • Provide consulting and recommendations to senior management for future products.
  • Interact directly with Executive Leadership within the company.
  • Lead cross-functional stakeholders and support teams towards business objectives.
  • Develop and maintains external relationships with vendors and strategic partners to further innovation and expense management.

Market Execution
  • Develop methodologies and initiates changes to policies and guidelines which affect work, schedules, and budgets.
  • Establish operational objectives, work plans.
  • Research and propose pricing structure and changes.
  • Develop and manage controls to ensure operational processes are working as expected and hold stakeholders accountable.

Leadership
  • Provide leadership creating and setting the product vision and driving the product strategy and product implementation.
  • Lead within a highly dynamic, matrixed, cross-functional environment.
  • Drive enterprise-wide CAT management alignment and ensure execution of initiatives that will keep growth within desired risk tolerances.

Profit/loss responsibility
  • Monitor product performance (e.g., mix of business and financials), helps develop/improve reporting, identifies key issues or emerging trends, and develops solutions.
  • Establish and assure adherence to budgets.
  • Establish operational objectives for the most complex, highest value, high growth and/or high potential value products.
  • Be a resource and expert on core technical aspects of a line of business and/or the tools and techniques of Product Management.

Required Experience, Education and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in related area (Marketing, business, or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of increasingly responsible product management experience.
  • Ability to define product strategy, product positioning, prioritize and articulate the rationale behind your decisions.
  • Extensive knowledge of product and project management, product profitability, underwriting, and strategic planning
  • Enjoys working across strategic and tactical levels of a project
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent strategic, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Mastery of product analysis, principles and methods.
  • Excellent business and technical writing skills (e.g., proposals, PowerPoint presentation, business requirements, Microsoft project, Suite Microsoft Office)
  • Excellent project management techniques and processes; highly skilled negotiator
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and persuasion skills with internal and external partners and stakeholders
  • Excellent understanding business systems and processes and how they link together
  • Exceptional financial analysis and reporting skills

What would make us excited about you?
  • Experience working with and understanding catastrophe models for use in insurance pricing and underwriting decisions
  • Proficient in RMS and AIR Worldwide modeling software
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Proficiency in SAS, SQL, Python, Snowflake, Visual Basic, Power BI and various structured analysis and design techniques.
  • Actively shapes our company culture (e.g., participating in employee resource groups, volunteering, etc.)
  • Lives into cultural norms (e.g., willing to have cameras when it matters: helping onboard new team members, building relationships, etc.)
  • Travels as needed for role, including divisional / team meetings and other in-person meetings

The national average salary range for this position is $136,890.00-$152,100.00. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on work location. The starting pay range for this position across all the states we hire in is $123,120.00-$182,450.00. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 15% of eligible pay.
