HIRING RANGE: $23.15 - $24.54 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary mission of the admissions representative will be to assist prospective traditional and nontraditional students and members of the JJC enrollment market in learning about the college, the programs and services available for students, and to help them make the decision to enroll. This position will have the responsibility for recruiting high school and returning adult students in addition to assisting with implementation of the college's strategic enrollment management plan. This may involve assisting the Student Recruitment Coordinator in supervision and training of student staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Establish and cultivate strategic relationships with prospective high school/adult students, guidance counselors, local families, and representatives from community-based organizations.
2. Make recruiting visits to high schools and local businesses & organizations, in and out of district with the goal of recruiting both traditional and nontraditional students to JJC.
3. This position will engage in up to 12 weeks of in person/virtual recruitment travel per semester.
4. Responsible for developing, updating and executing high school-specific recruitment plans for assigned high schools.
5. Be responsive to the needs of our JJC District 525 High school students, by providing services at their respective campuses, such as admissions presentations, Early Entry presentations, Application Days, ID/Username assistance, Scholarship workshops, college fairs, Next Step Days and office hours, etc.
6. Effectively manage all aspects of the enrollment funnel for prospective students, ensuring that all students are guided through the enrollment process by assisting them with each onboarding step (helping students through the application, interpreting placement testing measures, verifying application status, providing aid in retrieving their username/ID number, aiding with the NSO presentation and scheduling, and assisting them with building their first semester class schedule based on advisor recommendations).
7. Recruit, interview, and hire student workers, and assist with training and managing the student workers. Assist recruitment coordinator with student ambassador program.
8. Analyze current and historical admissions trends within designated territory and develop and implement strategies to surpass enrollment goals. Create a yearly recruitment plan in collaboration with the Student Recruitment Coordinator and the Director of Admissions based on the data collected.
9. Assist front line staff in answering questions from students and parents who are visiting the enrollment center; including being available for walk-in student appointments and aiding the front-line staff during peak times. Scheduling student appointments virtually or in person.
10. Responsible for the organization, design, and execution of numerous on-campus events such as Discover JJC, JJC College Fair, the High School Counselors' Breakfast, academic program events, etc. Organize, arrange and coordinate campus tours and presentations.
11. Participate in and lead Admissions Information Sessions to groups of prospective adult and high school students and their families, responding to individual questions and concerns.
12. Represent JJC at community College Fairs/events to recruit traditional and adult students. Schedule all travel activities and logistics for these events.
13. Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible as duties are assigned across a number of admissions-sponsored recruitment initiatives on and off campus: annual open houses, high school visits, student development events and conferences, new student advising sessions, academic department information sessions, DAEL/EAP information and application sessions
14. Assist Director and Recruitment Coordinator with oral and written communications to high school counselors, prospects, applicants, and current students.
15. Work with appropriate departments to promote or increase enrollment in targeted markets. Establish collaborative partnerships with academic departments to do specialized recruitment activities as well as extended campuses that support adult specialized programs.
16. Manage the inventory of recruitment needs and materials. Assist with development and execution of recruitment communication documents (the Inside Scoop our monthly newsletter, flyers, brochures, catalogs, class schedules, JJC web pages, social media platforms, etc.).
17. Develop, collect, analyze, and report on data from assigned territory travel and scheduled events.
18. Actively seek out and participate in various on campus teams, task forces, etc.
19. Participate in achieving departmental and college goals and objectives.
20. Assist in coordinating applicant and prospective student calling campaigns each semester.
21. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college or university.
2. Two (2) years of previous recruitment experience with adult students and high school population in a higher education setting.
3. Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills
4. Strong personal computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
5. Ability to independently manage the work day in the field with minimal or no supervision.
6. Extended evening and weekend hours are required during prime recruiting season
7. Uphold and follow college policy and federal law that protects the privacy of student's education records under FERPA.
8. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

10. Valid Illinois driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Knowledge and/or experience with Ellucian Colleague software.
2. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
3. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. While the majority of the work is done sitting or standing, the ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds is also necessary.
2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
3. Ability to travel in state and nationally.
4. Must deliver materials to businesses and community locations in own car.
5. Must be able to walk distances and climb stairs with college materials.
6. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
7. Ability to travel with nights and weekends required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Duties are performed indoors in the usual office and/or outdoor environment.

Internal candidates must adhere to the terms of employment regarding length of time in current position as outlined in their union contract.
