Job Description
As a valued colleague on our team, you will provide expert advice and guidance to the team regarding the development of data infrastructures and pipelines to capture, integrate, organize, and centralize data while testing and ensuring data is readily accessible and in a usable state, including quality assurance.
THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our Market Data team. This role is ideal for a data engineering expert with deep knowledge of market data systems, Fannie Mae datasets, and vendor circuit infrastructure. You will lead the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines and platforms that support trading, risk, and analytics functions, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
- Assess customer needs and intended use of requested data in the development of database requirements and support the planning and engineering of enterprise databases.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of database technologies, complex coding languages, and computer system skills.
- Lead the team to organize and integrate data into readily available formats while maintaining existing structures and govern their use according to business requirements.
- Lead the analysis of new data sources and monitoring of performance, scalability, and security of data.
- Analyze the initial analysis and deliver the user interface (UI) to the customer to enable further analysis.
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Minimum Required Experiences
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years in leading technical and business teams
Desired Experiences
- Bachelors degree or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
Skills
- Proven experience in leading the architecture, development, and maintenance of scalable Market Data pipelines and platforms, enabling continuous data flow to enterprise-wide business applications.
- Strong experience with Market Data, especially live streaming data and structured products.
- Hands-on experience integrating and managing market data feeds such as SOFR, LIBOR, COFI, Intex Data, CDI, CDU, and Fannie Mae datasets, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and reliability.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with business stakeholders across trading, risk, finance, and other enterprise functions to gather requirements and deliver impactful data solutions.
- Strong collaboration with technology support teams to ensure platform stability, performance, and compliance with enterprise IT and security standards.
- Deep understanding of data quality management, data lineage, and governance practices in a financial services environment.
- Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers and analysts, promoting best practices and technical excellence.
- Familiarity with deploying data solutions in cloud environments in partnership with DevOps and Cloud Engineering teams.
- Expertise in implementing best practices for data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and real-time data processing to support high-performance analytics and operational workflows.
- Proficiency in AWS, Java-based technologies, Oracle, SQL, MicroStrategy, Tableau, etc.
- Adept with Fannie Mae processes and tools - including Disaster Recovery, Data Set Management, P2P+, Agile (Atlassian JIRA), Draw.io, Visio, Co-Pilot, Collibra, etc.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance in financial services.
Tools
- Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and services, particularly within AWS: EC2, S3, Lambda, Glue, CloudWatch, etc including how to architect, deploy, monitor, and optimize data solutions in a cloud-native environment.
- Strong proficiency in data engineering & software development using: Java / Python, and SQL,
- High-performance data pipelines using tools like ESB, Kafka, etc .
- In-depth knowledge of database and storage technologies: Oracle, PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS, S3, and Redshift, with the ability to design efficient schemas, optimize queries, and manage large-scale data storage.
- Deep understanding in data visualization and reporting tools: MicroStrategy, Tableau, and Power BI, etc.
- Proficient in Agile methodologies and collaboration platforms: Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, P2P+, Co-Pilot, and Colibri, and how they facilitate agile delivery, sprint planning, and cross-functional coordination.
- Strong domain knowledge of market data and financial systems: SOFR, LIBOR, COFI, Intex, CDI, CDU, and MBS, etc

The hiring range for this role is set forth below. Final salaries will generally vary within that range based on factors that include but are not limited to, skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications.
