Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will assist with monitoring customer needs and intended uses of requested data in the development of database requirements and assist in the planning and engineering of enterprise databases.

The Enterprise Data - Data Engineering - Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
  • Assist with monitoring customer needs and intended uses of requested data in the development of database requirements and assist in the planning and engineering of enterprise databases.
  • Attend training for database technologies, complex coding languages, and computer system skills.
  • Integrate data into readily available formats while maintaining existing structures and govern their use according to business requirements.
  • Assist with incorporating new data sources and monitor the performance, scalability, and security of data.
  • Support the team in creating an initial analysis and deliver the user interface (UI) to the customer to enable further analysis.

Skills

Support Fannie Mae's financial data need from external and internal data sources and partners, and facilitate the inquiry and acquisition of financial data from them through technology developed both internally and externally.

Provide ongoing analysis of new products or asset classes, and suggest program modifications as necessary. May test applications for accuracy and functionality before putting them into service.

Determining causes of operating errors and taking corrective action

The group of skills related to Product Testing including testing and evaluating software, usability testing, UAT, and using relevant product testing technology

Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal

The group of skills related to Communication including communicating in writing or verbally, copywriting, planning and distributing communication, etc.

Ability to frame ideas as systems and analyzing the inputs, outputs, and process

Experience in the process of analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions about the data

Skilled in cloud technologies and cloud computing

Experience helping an organization to plan and manage change in effort to meet strategic objectives

Skilled in the graphical representation of information in the form of a charts, diagrams, pictures, and dashboards with programs and tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI

Understand how application is setup in AWS and how to test applications hosted in AWS.

Communicate with internal teams to answer business questions, clarify requirements and perform UAT

Understand how external market data, mainly securities and derivatives prices, various interest rates, and analytics flowing from external data vendors and partners, into Fannie Mae's internal systems, and understand how the data get transformed into different xml and json formats and how the data feed into downstream systems

Communicate with existing external data vendors and partners for any data issues in delivery, consistence, and precision, and connect internal customer demand with external vendors.

Search data and data sources among external data vendors based on Fannie Mae's business needs, find proper channel like SFTP, HTTPS, curl to bring that data into the company, familiar with how public data is provided by the Treasury, SEC, and Federal Reserve and how to acquire it

Use and modify formula to calculate and verify analytics feed into internal systems based on the security value changes caused by the market move when needed.

Support existing internally developed applications that bring in the external data, trouble shoot data issues, help development team and operations team to support internal infrastructure, interfaces, and registration.

The hiring range for this role is set forth below. Final salaries will generally vary within that range based on factors that include but are not limited to, skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications.
