The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County (HFHODV) and is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the organization in accordance with the direction, policies, and objectives set by the Board of Directors. The ED represents the organization to the community, donors, government agencies, and Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), and ensures sound fiscal and operational management. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy Provide visionary leadership to advance the mission of HFHODV. Develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors. Ensure alignment with HFHI guidelines and maintain good standing with the organization. Fundraising & Community Engagement Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, and community partners. Lead fundraising efforts including annual campaigns, grants, events, and major gifts. Serve as the face of the organization at public events, in the media, and with stakeholders. Board Relations Collaborate with the Board in setting strategic direction and policies. Keep the Board informed of the organization's operations, challenges, and opportunities. Support Board development and governance best practices. Program Management Oversee homebuilding projects, family selection, and homeowner support programs. Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and HFHI guidelines on all build sites. Monitor program effectiveness and evaluate impact. Operations & Staff Management Hire, train, and supervise staff and key volunteers. Create a positive, mission-driven workplace culture. Oversee daily operations including finance, human resources, and facilities. Financial Management Develop and manage the annual budget in coordination with the Board. Ensure financial controls and reporting systems are in place. Maintain accountability for affiliate financial performance and transparency. Qualifications Passion for Habitat for Humanity's mission and values Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or relevant certifications preferred Minimum 5 years of nonprofit leadership experience, including fundraising and staff supervision Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and fiscal management Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills Proven ability to build and maintain community and donor relationships Experience in construction or housing-related fields is a plus Work Environment & Requirements Occasional evenings and weekends required for events and meetings Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and navigate active construction sites Compensation & Benefits Salary commensurate with experience Benefits package may include health insurance, paid time off, and retirement options.
