The ReStore Assistant Manager supports the ReStore Manager in daily store operations and plays a key role in maintaining a high-functioning, customer-focused, and mission-driven retail environment. This position assists with staff and volunteer supervision, donation intake, sales, merchandising, and customer service to ensure the ReStore meets its revenue and community engagement goals in support of Habitat for Humanity NWNJ's mission. Operations & Inventory Management Assist in opening and closing the store, operating the cash register, and ensuring accurate cash handling and deposits. Ensure cleanliness, safety, and organization of the sales floor, donation processing areas and warehouse. Listen to voicemails daily and review all emails directing them to appropriate staff or volunteer. Make sure all inbound phone calls are answered. Operate cashier drawer and process customer returns as necessary. Act as the store lead in the absence of the ReStore Manager. Manage inventory of maintenance and office supplies. Attend or participate in training as needed or required. Assist with pricing of inventory and employee/volunteer pricing efforts. Deliver outstanding service to customers and donors; resolve issues promptly and professionally. Educate customers and donors about Habitat's mission and how their support contributes. Staff & Volunteer Supervision Provide direction and support to staff and volunteers on daily tasks. Help train new volunteers and staff in ReStore procedures, safety, and customer service. Help maintain appealing and organized merchandise displays. Assist with evaluating and pricing donations according to guidelines to maximize sales value. Monitor stock levels and support inventory rotation and markdowns. Donor &Community Engagement Oversee scheduling and coordinating donation pick-ups. Support daily inventory flow including receiving, processing, pricing, and floor placement of donated goods. Build collaborative relationships within the local community through networking when possible. Ensure donors receive timely, professional service both on-site and during pick-up interactions. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; some college or technical training preferred. Minimum of 2 years of retail or warehouse experience; supervisory experience a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to operate POS systems, handle transactions accurately, and maintain records. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in a physically active environment. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Can work outdoors including during inclement weather. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite preferred. Web browser savvy. Willingness to make cold calls for donation purposes. Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail. Solid personal and written communication skills to clearly and effectively express ideas and to network. Maintain all information in a confidential and professional manner. Model appropriate behavior in interaction with diverse donors, customers, volunteers, and staff. Ability to demonstrate a high level of ethics, integrity, diplomacy, and initiative. Must pass criminal background check and sexual offender check Willingness to work some nights and weekends. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with volunteers or in a nonprofit setting.
