Boeing is seeking an Experienced Spacecraft Vehicle Engineer (Level 3) to support daily operations in the end to end technical management of a spacecraft constellation in Springfield, VA.

This role will serve as a focal point for vehicle technical issues and functions as well as coordination between site and factory engineering teams. The engineer will provide on-site operational support and technical oversight, and implementation guidance for anomaly resolution and special test activities. This role will also ensure long-term vehicle health and that activities are planned, coordinated and executed in a timely manner in line with spacecraft operations and the spacecraft factory direction.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Provides daily oversight of vehicle subsystem functionality
  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues
  • Reviews operational logs and addressing concerns
  • Reviews daily trend plots
  • Reviews limit checks across subsystems
  • Supports factory and customer requests for specific monitoring or activities
  • Coordinates implementation of Boeing Factory Recommendations
  • Coordinates technical issue resolutions with local and factory experts
  • Conducts review(s) and closure(s) of discrepancy reports
  • Provides support to a daily Site- Factory interface meeting
  • Develops scripts and tools with Perl, Python, Matlab, Excel/VBA, etc.
  • Authors and updates multiple types of documentation
  • Maintains knowledge of vehicle contingency procedures
  • Maintains current workarounds and memograms
  • Maintains vehicle databases as required
  • Supports memogram development, providing oversight to anomaly resolution from the system perspective
  • Supports calibration activities as required
  • Reviews and reporting trend analysis
  • Supports deployments to contingency command and control facilities
  • Provides weekly and monthly status of vehicle performance
  • Provides vehicle payload specific briefings and written reports as required
  • Supports of special Systems Engineering tests and transition related activities


This position requires an active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with adjudicated counter intelligence polygraph for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship as a condition of employment.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Willing to support a 24/7 on-call rotation environment
  • Experience in Aerospace engineering or Electrical engineering


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Successful completion of a certification program. Certification requires a combination of self-study and on-the-job (OJT) training.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $104,440 - $141,450
