The Project Engineering Team Lead will be primarily responsible for leading a sub team of project engineers engaged in the specification, procurement, and installation of manufacturing process equipment and facilities upgrade projects to include ownership of all phases of a project from initiation and planning through installation, commissioning, support, and closeout. This position will provide engineering expertise to assist plant-level maintenance, production/operations, EH&S, and management personnel in identifying and solving technical process issues. A practical level of understanding of engineering principles is to be applied to assigned project work. Individual is to be provided with moderate task definition, supervision, and technical/process-related advice throughout the execution of assignments. On a regular basis, engineering project responsibility and prioritization will be delegated by this individual to others. This individual will have direct reports in the form of engineers.

Normal hours worked will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday (40 hours/week). Situations will require additional hours worked per day and /or alternate shifts worked (equipment breakdowns, process issues/troubleshooting, equipment commissioning/startups, etc.). This individual will travel up to 25% for project support, equipment installation, commissioning, startups, and vendor visits.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineering department to improve resource planning and reporting
  • Support the oversight, mentorship, and professional development of project engineering team
  • Specify, procure, and execute manufacturing process equipment upgrades that meet project application requirements and organizational needs
  • Capital project management that includes scope development, funding requests, budget tracking, schedule tracking, execution, and general documentation
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of internal stakeholders (operations/maintenance) and external stakeholders (suppliers/contractors) during project execution
  • Monitor future project roadmap and coordinate with planned maintenance downtime schedules
  • Support troubleshooting and root case analysis (RCA) for issues escalated from operations pertaining to existing processes.
  • Travel to CCM sites (domestic) in support of project planning, equipment installation, startup, and training
  • Travel to Vendor facilities (domestic/international) for factory acceptance testing (FAT) and inspections
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Essential Full Performance Knowledge:

  • Project Management Fundamentals
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing plants and industrial equipment
  • Working knowledge of electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Working knowledge of temperature control systems and utilities
  • Working knowledge of piping design and instrumentation (P&ID) design principles
  • Moderate working knowledge of construction principles
  • Expertise developing and working with AutoCAD drawings
  • Basic understanding of open/closed control loops (PIDs)
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles low-voltage power distribution

  • Interpretation of mechanical, electrical, and construction design drawings
  • Understanding and evaluation of component, equipment, and installation proposals
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (Autodesk products)

Education and Experience:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering related discipline (required)
    • Minimum of five years industrial/manufacturing experience in a mechanical or electrical engineering capacity.
  • Preferred:
    • 10+ years preferred in industrial/manufacturing experience in a mechanical or electrical engineering
    • Master of Engineering Management (MEM) degree
    • Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
    • Engineering Master's Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, etc.)
