Communications Specialist

This role will focus on creating, designing, and delivering clear, engaging, and accurate employee benefits communications for our clients. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, can confidently attend informal client meetings, and brings both technical and creative skills to the table, especially in PowerPoint and Adobe InDesign.

• Develop and execute communication strategies that educate employees about their benefits programs.

• Create compelling materials including PowerPoint presentations, brochures, benefit guides, and digital assets.

• Attend informal client meetings to understand their communication needs and provide expert input.

• Translate complex benefit information into easy-to-understand language for diverse audiences.

• Collaborate closely with internal teams and external vendors to manage timelines and ensure quality delivery of communication assets.

• Ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and compliance across all employee-facing materials.

• Maintain attention to detail while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.

• Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in benefits communication.

• 3+ years of experience in employee benefits communication or a related field.

• Strong knowledge of employee benefit plans (medical, dental, vision, retirement, etc.).

• Advanced PowerPoint skills with the ability to create visually appealing and informative presentations.

• If not proficient in Adobe InDesign, able to learn the tool within the first 6 months; experience with Photoshop and Illustrator a plus.

• Comfortable engaging with clients in informal meetings and gathering feedback.

• Exceptional attention to detail and project management skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

This job is fully remote for the region surrounding the State of Maryland.

Salary range is $60K to $75K per year.
