Description The Northern Region Parks Division a Division of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking a part-time administrative assistant with a minimum of 24 hours per week. The candidate should possess excellent communications skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. The duties of the position are answering telephone and directing calls; typing correspondence to include memos, letters, and other documents from handwritten notes and finalizing documents from typed draft documents; tracking responses and deadlines; sending out e-mail reminders, scheduling meetings, data entry in Excel spreadsheets, scanning and faxing documents, filing, ordering office supplies, and other general administrative duties as needed. Looking for someone that is highly organized and has an eye for details. Initiative is important and must be a team player. Bi-lingual of English and Spanish is a plus. Job location in the College Park, MD area. This position pays at a rate of $15.00/hr-$16.80/hr dependent upon experience and qualifications. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Minimum 2 years' experience working in the administrative field. Supplemental Information A criminal background investigation will be completed prior to hire. May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing. THE MARYLAND-NATIONAL CAPITAL PARK AND PLANNING COMMISSION 2025 BENEFIT SUMMARY FOR SEASONAL INTERMITTENT EMPLOYEES The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change. Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees Health Insurance Plans You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period. If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office. Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
