Our seasonal sites include :

Community centers and facilities where licensed Before/After School Care is offered.

Notes: Candidates may wish to work at a Before-School Program only, or at an After-School Program only. Candidates may work at both Before and After School Programs simultaneously depending on the needs of the program.

Child Care Before/After-School Director - Specialist/ Recreation Class Instructor III ($15.00/hr-$17.65/hr)

Job Description: Before/After School Directors are the administrators responsible for Kids' Care program planning, and environments. Directors may also serve as the Kids' Care Before/After School Leader for the program.

Qualifications: Must have 45 clock hours of child development (birth-school age) and 45 clock hours of school age curriculum and 40 to 45 hours of approved administrative training and 9 hours of communication training; or, hold an AA degree or higher with approved courses in recreation or school-aged training Must have one year of experience working in a licensed program with school aged children.

Child Care Before/After School Leader - Specialist/Program Facility Manager III ($15.00/hr-$16.80/hr)

Job Description: After School Leaders are responsible for leading a group of children in a Kid's Care, Before/After School Program and are accountable for program planning and program environments.

Qualifications: Must have completed 45 hours of approved training in child development (birth to school age) and 45 hours of curriculum training for school aged children and 9 clock hours of communication training. Must have one year of college or 400 hours of experience working with school aged children.

Child Care Aide: Before/After - School /Program Facility Aide I ($15.00/hr)

Job Description: Aides are responsible for following all center safety procedures and helping the Before/After School Leader assist children.

Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years old and enrolled in a recognized/career- tech child development program.

Child Care Aide-Before/After School /Program Facility Aide II ($15.00/hr-$15.52/hr)

Job Description: Aides are responsible for following all center safety procedures and helping the After School Leader assist children and plan activities for the program day.

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old, enrolled in college courses related to child development.

Child Care Aide/ Assistant Before/After School Leader/Program Facility Aide III ($15.00/hr-$15.52/hr)

Job Description: Assistant Leaders help the Before/After-School Leader plan methods for recreational/educational instruction and activities for the program day.

Qualifications: Must have completed 9 clock hours of communication training, be at least 18 years old, have one year of college and 400 hours of experience.

Child Care Aide Assistant-Before/After School /Program Facility Manager Aide I ($15.00/hr-$15.25/hr)

Job Description: Assistants are responsible for following all center safety procedures and helping the Before/After Leader plan methods for educational and recreational instruction and activities for the program day.

Qualifications: Must have finished one year of college and have completed one year of job related course work and have one year of experience working in a licensed child care program.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelors degree or four years experience in one of the following fields: parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or in area of required specialty; or

2. An equivalent combination of education and experience; and

3. A valid driver's license or ability to acquire one.

4. A valid operating license (e.g., county pool operator's license, child care license) as appropriate.

Supplemental Information

Must complete a criminal background check prior to hire.

May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
