The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, Special Program Division is seeking Seasonal/Intermittent applicants to serve as Drivers for year-round positions at several of its Senior Activity Centers throughout the County.

Senior Activity Center sites:
  • Langley Park Senior Activity Center, Hyattsville, MD
  • Gwendolyn Britt Senior Activity Center, North Brentwood, MD
  • Evelyn Cole Senior Activity Center, Seat Pleasant, MD
  • Camp Springs Senior Activity Center, Camp Springs, MD
  • Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center, Laurel, MD
  • John E. Howard Senior Activity Center, Capitol Heights, MD
  • Southern Area Aquatics and Recreation Complex, Brandywine MD

This position pays at a beginning rate of $18.00/hour.

Examples of Important Duties

Drivers transport seniors on field trips and outings on M-NCPPC vehicles. Provides excellent customer service and performs assigned duties in appropriate uniform and name tag.

Additional duties include:
  • Securing passengers safely,
  • Ensuring the vehicle is clean, well maintained, adhering to and following emergency procedures, and
  • Being a safe/courteous driver.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum age 21.
  • Requires valid Class C or Class D Driver's License with no more than one (1) point on driver's license.
  • Must have a minimum of two years or more of driving experience.
  • Must attain Commission Defensive Driving certification.
  • Must attain First Aid, CPR and AED certifications.
  • Must attend mandatory training/orientation.

Supplemental Information

A criminal background investigation will be completed prior to hire.

May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
