This job bulletin will be used to establish an eligible pool of applicants to fill positions as they become available. Hourly rate depends on the position, experience and certifications.

The Prince George's County Parks and Recreation, Youth and Countywide Sports Division (YCSD), Health and Wellness Team develops and implements health and wellness programs and initiatives to create healthier communities. Our programs seek to be culturally competent and diverse, promote a healthy lifestyle for residents and connect residents to parks, through programs, initiatives and outreach events.

The Health and Wellness Team seeks staff to host, attend and instruct countywide programs and events such as Yoga in the Parks, Get Fit Mobile, Walk With Ease, festivals, health fairs and many others.

Current available positions:
Program Support Staff ($15.00/hour - $15.52/hour)
Responsibilities of Program Support Staff include onsite program registration, information distribution, event preparation, and equipment set-up/breakdown. Qualified staff should have the ability to facilitate large group physical activities, and fun and games, while having the energy to draw in and engage an audience of participants of all ages.

Program Support Staff may also have the opportunity to drive the Get Fit Mobile unit and other Commission vehicles. Drivers should also be able to perform the duties of Program Support Staff, as mentioned above, and additionally possess a valid driver's license with a willingness to drive an oversized vehicle. Candidates must have a valid Class 'C' or 'D' driver's license; a minimum of two years of experience of driving; and the ability to attain the Commission's defensive driving certification. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to perform this duty. The Health and Wellness Team Program Support Staff work schedule may include a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.

Outreach Support Staff ($15.00/hour - $15.52/hour)
Responsibilities of Outreach Support Staff include information distribution, program promotion, event preparation, and tabling at special events, festivals, and programs. Qualified staff should have excellent communication skills, and the ability to share basic wellness information while having the ability to draw in and engage an audience of participants of all ages. The Health and Wellness Team Outreach Support Staff work schedule may include a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.

Fitness Instructors ($16.00/hour - $26.00/hour)
Instructor and trainer positions are located countywide with programs including Fitness in the Parks, Yoga in the Parks, and the Get Fit Mobile unit. Work schedule may include a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends. Qualified instructors will teach line dancing, Zumba®, cross training, sculpt & tone, boot camp, family fitness, Tai Chi or Yoga classes. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Instructors must have a valid certification in their discipline, a valid CPR/First Aid certification.

Supplemental Information

Positions are located county-wide.

These positions are Seasonal/part-time and do not include a benefit package.

Hourly rate is based on experience.

Must successfully pass a complete background investigation prior to hire.

May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
