If you answered yes, the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation has an exciting year-round Seasonal employment opportunity for you! Effectively communicating with supervisors, staff, participants and parents/guardians is extremely important. All selected candidates must provide excellent customer service. Therapeutic Recreation Program Locations: Northern (Beltsville, Berwyn Heights, College Park, Laurel, Riverdale) Central (Bowie, Mitchellville, Capitol Heights, Glenn Dale) Southern (Clinton, Marlow Heights, Temple Hills) County-wide (Capitol Heights, Mitchellwville, Temple Hills, Camp Springs, Ft. Washington) Inclusion Services Position Locations: Opportunities are available at various Northern, Central and Southern Area locations throughout Prince George's County. Program locations and assignments are subject to change based on program needs. After-School Kid's Care Programs/Therapeutic Recreation Northern (Beltsville, Lanham) Central (Capitol Heights, Bowie) Southern (Temple Hills, Oxon Hill) The following opportunities are available: Inclusion Aide ($15.00/hour - $15.52/hour) Provide assistance to individuals with mild disabilities to be included in recreational programs with their non-disabled peers. Actively participates in all program activities, assists with the adaptation of activities and helps to facilitate social interactions. Must have a desire and interest in working with persons with disabilities. Minimal related experience required. Minimum age 16. Inclusion Support Staff I ($15.00/hour - $15.52/hour) Provides assistance to individuals with mild/moderate disabilities to be included in recreational programs with their non-disabled peers. Actively participates in all program activities, assists with the adaptation of activities and helps to facilitate social interactions. Minimum age 18. Requires high school diploma and one year experience working with persons with disabilities or two or more years of work related disability experience. Inclusion Support Staff II ($15.00/hour - $16.00/hour) Provides assistance to individuals with moderate/severe disabilities to be included in recreational programs with their non-disabled peers. Maintains documentation and implements behavior plans as needed. Minimum age 19. Requires two years of college in related field and one year experience working with persons with disabilities or four or more years of related disability experience. Inclusion Support Staff III ($15.00/hour - $16.80/hour) Provides assistance to individuals with moderate/severe disabilities to be included in recreational programs with their non-disabled peers. Assists in development of behavior management plans; implements behavior management plans and provides documentation as required. Conducts sensitivity awareness activities and training on site as required. Requires four years of college in related field or two years of college plus three years of experience working with persons with disabilities or six or more years of related disability experience. Therapeutic Recreation Assistant Program Leader ($15.00/hour - $15.52/hour) Assistant Leaders assist with program participants of various ages and disabilities by providing adapted activities which facilitate development. Responsibilities include assisting with planning and leading activities, facilitating participation and helping with daily living skills. Duties include assisting with the implementation of behavior plans as needed. Assistant leaders communicate effectively, enforce program rules, comply with policies/procedures and Youth Camp Standards. Minimum age 16, entry level position, must have desire and interest in working with individuals with disabilities, minimal related experience required. Therapeutic Recreation Program Leader ($15.00/hour - $15.25/hour) Leaders work directly with program participants of various ages and disabilities by providing adapted activities which facilitate development. Responsibilities include planning and leading activities, facilitating participation and assisting with daily living skills. Duties also include maintaining documentation and implementation of behavior plans as needed. Leaders communicate effectively, enforce program rules, comply with policies/procedures and Youth Camp Standards. Minimum age 18. Requires one year of college plus one year of experience working with persons with disabilities or two or more years of related disability experience. Therapeutic Recreation Leader/Driver ($15.00/hour - $16.00/hour) Drivers transport participants with disabilities to and from program activities on M-NCPPC vehicles. Additional duties include; securing passengers safely, ensuring the vehicle is clean, well maintained, adhering to and following emergency procedures, and being a safe/courteous driver. Must have a valid Class C or D Driver's License with no more than one (1) point on driver's license. Must have a minimum of two years or more of experience driving, minimum age 21, attain Defense Driving certification. Directors and Assistant Directors supervise and evaluate staff and volunteers; enforce program policies/procedures and Youth Camp Standards; communicate effectively and work closely with parents/guardians, Board of Education and M-NCPPC staff. Therapeutic Recreation Assistant Program Director ($15.00/hour - $16.00/hour) Assistant Directors are responsible for acting as the Program Director in the Director's absence. Assists with the overall supervision of the onsite operation of comprehensive therapeutic recreation programs for participants of various ages with disabilities. Maintains open communication with the Director and assists with planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating specialized activities designed to meet the needs of the program participants. Requires four year degree in related field or two years of college and two years of experience working with persons with disabilities or four or more years experience working with persons with disabilities. Specialized experience in parks and recreation, physical education or related field or a combination of education and experience. Therapeutic Recreation Program Director ($15.00/hour - $16.80/hour) Directors are responsible for overall supervision of the onsite operation of a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program for participants of various ages with disabilities. They plan, organize, implement and evaluate specialized programs designed to meet the needs of the program participants. Requires four year degree and one year experience working with persons with disabilities or two years of college plus four years experience working with persons with disabilities or eight years of experience or above with specialized experience in parks and recreation, physical education, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Kid's Care After School Assistant Director ($15.00/hour - $16.00/hour) Kid's Care After School Assistant Directors are the administrators responsible for assisting with Kid's Care program planning and environments. Assistant Directors may also serve as the Kid's Care After School Group Leaders for the program. Must have 45 clock hours of child development (school age) and 45 clock hours of school age curriculum and 45 hours of approved administrative training and 9 hours of communication training; or hold an AA degree or higher with approved courses in recreation or school-aged training. Must have one year of experience working in a licensed program with school aged children with disabilities. Kid's Care After School Group Leader ($15.00/hour - $15.52/hour) After School Group Leaders are responsible for leading a group of assigned children in a Kid's Care After School Program and are accountable for assisting with program planning and program environments. Must have completed 45 hours of approved training in child development (birth to school age) and 45 hours of curriculum training for school aged children and 9 clock hours of communication training. Must have one year of college or 400 hours of experience working with school aged children with disabilities. Kid's Care After School Aide ($15.00/hour - $15.52/hour) Assistant Leaders help the Kid's Care Group Leader plan methods for recreational instruction and activities for the program day. Must have completed 9 clock hours of communication training, be at least 18 years old, have one year of college and 400 hours of experience. Supplemental Information All selected applicants must attend mandatory trainings; CPR, First Aid and AED, Inclusion/ Therapeutic Recreation Orientation, Disability Characteristics, Behavior Management techniques, and other designated trainings. These positions are seasonal and do not include a benefits package. A complete background investigation will be completed prior to hire. May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing. THE MARYLAND-NATIONAL CAPITAL PARK AND PLANNING COMMISSION 2025 BENEFIT SUMMARY FOR SEASONAL INTERMITTENT EMPLOYEES The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change. Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees Health Insurance Plans You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period. If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office. Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
