Teach What You Love More! Be a part-time Instructor for the Southern Recreation & Leisure Services Division of Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission's Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation. Classes will be located in community centers, public schools and other Prince George's County locations and are offered to patrons of all ages. Work part-time during evenings, days or weekends. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age (age 21 in some cases).

The starting salary range is $15.00/hour - $35.00/hour depending on the position, experience and certifications.

Some of the instructional areas available include:
  • Crafting (Sewing, Crocheting, Scrapbooking, etc.)
  • Dance (African, Ballet, Line, Hand, etc.)
  • Enrichment (Language, Tutoring, Computer, STEM)
  • Fitness (Cross Training, Sports Specific, Boot Camp, Spinning, Personal Trainers, etc.)
  • Martial Arts (Aikido, Judo, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, etc.)
  • Mind and Body Classes (Tai Chi, Yoga, Meditation, etc.)
  • Music (instrumental and voice)
  • Sports (Basketball, Soccer, T-Ball, Tennis, Tumbling, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

Applicant must be:
  • At least 18 years of age;
  • Have the ability to interact with a wide variety of people; have excellent interpersonal communications skills; and
  • Must have reliable transportation.
A combination of education, experience, certifications in the field of instruction are considered.

Administrative experience equal to the management and/or supervision of a related program which demonstrates the applicant's ability to direct and be responsible for the program content and delivery under a minimum amount of supervision will also be considered.

A complete criminal background check will be completed prior to hire.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
