The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County, Parks and Recreation, Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division is looking for Tennis Instructors. Candidates will be responsible for teaching in group and individual settings with all age groups while providing a safe and enjoyable environment for the participants. Positions are available at the following locations:

  • Cosca Tennis Bubble located in Cosca Regional Park, Clinton
  • Watkins Tennis Bubble located in Watkins Regional Park, Upper Marlboro
  • Fairland Tennis Bubble located in Laurel, Maryland

Examples of Important Duties

  • Teach participants on tennis fundamentals in both group and individual tennis setting.
  • Ensure a safe and risk free environment at all times while meeting the individual needs of the participants.
  • Be comfortable teaching on both indoor and outdoor courts.
  • Maintain proper record keeping for class attendance.
  • Have good communication skills and be comfortable working with all age groups.
  • Enforce all tennis facility policies, rules and regulations. .
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of courts, keeping free of loose tennis balls and trash.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • USPTA or USPTR certification required
  • Experience with 10 and Under tennis instructional methods, equipment and play format
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills.
  • First aid and CPR certified preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • The salary range will be $15.00/hr-$40.00/hr per hour dependent on experience, qualifications, and certification

A complete criminal background investigation will be completed prior to hire.

May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
