The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County, Parks and Recreation, Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division is seeking Skating Directors for the Tucker Road Ice Rink.

Candidates will supervise the entire scope of the skating program which include recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of coaching staff and on ice developmental programs.

The schedule will be days, evenings and weekends.

The salary range will be $16.00/hour - $26.00/hour dependent on experience, qualifications, and certifications.

Examples of Important Duties

  • Working conditions work is performed at a recreational ice facility and may be both indoors and outdoors. Some work may be done in an office environment using standard office equipment. Position may require off-site promotion;
  • Physical requirements must be able to stand and skate for long periods of time. This position can involve sitting, standing, walking, running, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling;

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years overseeing a skating program with a full slate of developmental learn to skate, learn to play and on ice skating programs from tots to adults, beginners to advanced, recreational to competitive;
  • Experience with Industry and instructional hockey and figure skating programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of USFS, ISI and USA Hockey programs along with memberships, credentials, and certifications preferred;
  • Ability to obtain certifications from USFS, ISI and USA hockey;
  • Able to network and form strong and lasting relationships within the facility, community, and industry;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel;
  • Dedication to achieve results with a focus on planning and execution; dedication to success and commitment to work a flexible schedule to achieve facility and departmental goals;

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
