PURPOSE:
The Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for company-wide financial planning, analysis, budgeting, performance reporting, and forecasting and modeling for all lines of business - Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and DSNP. More broadly, this role will be responsible for enterprise-wide short-term and long-term financial planning and the development and execution of strategic policies, programs, and operational procedures. Provides insightful analysis in support of business decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Annual Planning Process and Reporting
  • Lead the Annual Operating Plan Process, working with senior management and senior leadership. Responsible for annual budgeting process, strategic planning decisions, and initiative prioritization in partnership with the functional leader. Conduct quarterly business reviews to discuss strategic goals and progress and new developments, changes in assumptions, and business trends. Share actual versus forecasted financial results with the Executive Leadership Team on a regular basis and at times, with the entire organization.
Long Range Planning Process
  • Lead the long-range strategic and economic planning process for all business segments through coordination with business leaders to develop 3-5 year business plans. Identify and implement actions to influence results, e.g., provider contracting, case and utilization management, benefits design, pricing, etc.
Financial Initiatives
  • Analyze and introduce new productivity or cost saving initiatives. Work with Health Services and Actuarial teams to formulate actions to manage care costs in alignment with forecasted results. Develop and monitor capital plan including Risk Based Capital ensuring required contributions to the appropriate entities. Support Actuarial Rate Analysis, Medicare Bid preparation and IBNR reserve setting.
Corporate Development
  • Support corporate business development activities with financial modeling for strategic partnerships. Engage in due diligence evaluation in future acquisition and joint-venture oppportunities.
Staff Management
  • Oversees the strategic and the day-to-day activities of the Department, including directing, coaching, and guiding associates to implement departmental, divisional, and organizational mission/goals. Recruits, retains and develops a high performing team. Evaluates performance of each team member, generates development plans and sets goals within the context of the corporate policies and procedures. Develops annual goals, and prepares, monitors, and analyzes variances of departmental budgets to control and appropriately allocate resources.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position manages people.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar related major.

Experience: 12 years of experience in health care industry with significant experience in Health Insurance payor experience and at least 5 years in leadership roles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Strong leadership, management, technology, analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills.
  • Strong acumen in financial management, financial processes, and business analytics.
  • Financial modeling experience and skills.
  • Ability to build and develop relationships.
  • Significant analytical skillset, including the utilization of BI and reporting tools.
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
