The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County Parks and Recreation, Sports and Learning Complex (SPORTSPLEX) is seeking staff for the following positions:

Event Services Staff / Program Facility Aide III ($15.00/hout - $15.52/hour) Inside Event Staff

Provides guest assistance during special events. Assists in managing ingress/egress at doors and other controlled entry locations. Helps to enforce building safety procedures and assists with compliments and complaints. Required to stand and must be able to move about for extended periods of time to interact with guests. Will require working scheduled shifts including but not limited to nights and weekends.

Outdoor Event Staff ($15.00/hour - $15.52/hour)
Directs and gives parking instructions to public upon arrival along with providing general information pertaining to the complex and scheduled programs/events. Will secure parking areas to include locking gates and setting up barricades. Will require working scheduled shifts including but not limited to nights and weekends. Required to stand for long periods of time with extensive movement. Requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions such as rain, snow, cold/hot days.

Field House & Stadium Staff ($15.00/hour - $16.80/hour)

Staff assist with a variety of administrative, program, and venue-related tasks. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service, leading activities, facilitating participation, assisting with set up/tear down of venue, and assists with special events. Staff must also communicate effectively with patrons and other staff, and enforce venue rules/policies/procedures.

Youth & Community Program Staff/Birthday Parties/Special Events ($15.00/hour - $16.80/hour)

Staff assist with a variety of program-related tasks to include providing excellent customer service, leading activities, facilitating participation, assisting with set up/tear down of programs, and assist with special events. Staff must also communicate effectively with patrons and other staff, and enforce program rules/policies/procedures.

Childcare Aide ($15.00/hour - $16.80/hour)

Staff are responsible for providing a safe and fun environment for children ages 24 mos. to 12 years old. Staff will actively engage in individual and group activities such as games, arts & craft, and sports. Staff must also communicate effectively with patrons and other staff, and enforce venue rules/policies/procedures.

Learning Center / Program Facility Manager II ($15.00/hour - $16.00/hour)
Staff Manager
Provide customer service to clients utilizing the Learning Center. Assist patrons with A/V equipment and computer usage. Escort patrons to assigned rooms, answer general questions concerning facility and usage. Monitor patrons within the venue and Main Hall. Assist with clean-up/organization of the rooms, inventory equipment, etc. Must have evening and weekend availability.

Learning Center / Instructors ($15.00/hour - $28.00/hour)

Provide instruction in any of the following areas: language, math, reading, computer technology/applications, financial knowledge/health, photography, sign language, knitting, sewing and any art-related courses to various age groups. Must provide lesson plans and customer service to students. High School or GED, some college or trade, education/technical training in discipline being taught; experience required.

Fitness Center Shift Manager ($15.00/hour - $20.00/hour)
The Shift Manager oversees the daily operations of the Fitness Center according to his/her shift. Each manager will be responsible to work closely with the front desk representative administrative support. The Shift Manager will also provide support to the floor representative, ensuring all patrons are satisfied and equipment cleaning and/or maintenance procedures are performed. Minimum Qualifications: Previous management skills of at least 3+ years; general knowledge of cardiovascular and strength training principles according to American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines; current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & First Aid certifications; computer literacy and knowledge of Smartlink database programs. Key Responsibilities: Manage front desk operations to include: cash drawer balance report(s), fitness center services, program registration, membership registration, and personal customer service as needed; manage fitness center operations to include equipment cleaning, facility tours, floor coverage, equipment and locker room maintenance; serve as Fitness Center Representative and Fitness Specialist liaison to the Fitness Center Management, keeping them informed of all customer service issues; oversee center promotions- bulletin boards, facility service flyers, promotional flyers, and staff member of the month; perform safety and maintenance checks of all equipment throughout the Fitness Center; provide constructive feedback on staff performance evaluation; assist in the planning, organization, and development of center programs and incentives; and attend scheduled staff meetings and participate in appropriate customer service and management workshops/seminars as required.

Fitness Center Specialist ($15.00/hour - $16.00/hour)

The Fitness Specialist supervises all fitness areas, instruct members on the proper and preferred use of the exercise equipment, as well as ensure that members are performing the exercises safely. Minimum Qualifications: Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; a bachelor's degree in health education, nursing, public health or an allied health field is preferred; general knowledge of cardiovascular and strength training principles according to American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines; current Personal Trainer and/or Group Exercise Instructor certification by a recognized national certification organization preferred; current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & First Aid certification. Key

Responsibilities:

Be a model of health and fitness by maintaining a high level of personal fitness; supervise the weight room and enforce Fitness Center rules and regulations; instruct members in cardiovascular and strength training procedures and exercise techniques; conduct equipment orientations and teach members the proper and preferred use of exercise equipment; perform fitness assessments to determine the level of fitness for individual members; inform members of new information regarding cardiovascular and strength training safety and effectiveness; help maintain a neat, clean, and pleasant environment throughout the Fitness Center; and provide tours of the Fitness Center as needed.

Fitness Center Representative ($15.00/hour - $16.00/hour)
The Fitness Center Representative manages all front desk customer service procedures and provides support supervising all fitness center areas. The Fitness Center Representative will ensure accurate registration practices are being used as well as ensure that the members are performing exercises in a safe and effective manner. Minimum Qualifications: General knowledge of cardiovascular and strength training principles according to American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines; current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & First Aid certifications; computer literacy and knowledge of applicable programs; problem solving and good organizational skills. Key Responsibilities: Provide professional customer service to Fitness Center patrons; assist with checking-in and stamping patrons; prepare cash drawer report for Shift Manager after each shift; provide tours of the Fitness Center, answer phone calls in a timely manner; sales and registration of patrons for memberships, personal training sessions, and other center promotions; stay abreast of Fitness Center membership rates, special promotions, and community programs including Group Exercise, Personal Training, and all procedural policies; help maintain a neat, clean, and pleasant environment throughout the Fitness Center; inform members of new information regarding cardiovascular and strength training safety and effectiveness; perform safety and maintenance checks of all equipment throughout the Fitness Center; and attend scheduled staff meetings and participate in appropriate customer service training workshops and seminars as required.

Operations Day-Time Staff ($15.00/hour - $15.52/hour)

Assist and monitor the physical, environmental, and security conditions and general maintenance of the building, property, facility outdoor grounds and indoor facilities at the PG Sports & Learning Complex. Minimum Qualifications: Excellent customer service; interpersonal skills to relate to diverse groups; problem solving and good organizational skills. Routine Responsibilities include setups/breakdowns for classes, meetings, and events; maintenance and Preventive measures of interior and exterior of building; ensure physical space and grounds, equipment rooms, storage areas, hallways and stairwells are maintained in a clean and orderly manner; monitor the physical conditions and safety of the building grounds and facility exits/entrances to ensure appropriate alternative measures are provided; Snow Removal Team as needed

Operations Administrative Support Staff ($15.00/hour - $16.80/hour)

Assist and provide administrative support including typing, filing, photocopying, and receiving and guiding visitors and contractors. Examples of duties include serving as a receptionist with full responsibility for answering questions; providing information and directing requests to the appropriate staff; using a spreadsheet software to enter data; providing administrative support to staff and gathering data and preparing appropriate reports; maintaining reservation systems; ordering supplies and equipment; maintaining bookkeeping records for revenues and expenditures of work unit; and maintaining the office filing system of the Operations Department at the PG Sports & Learning Complex. Minimum Qualifications: Excellent customer service; interpersonal skills to relate to diverse groups, and problem solving and good organizational skills.

Operations Night / Weekend Staff ($15.00/hour - $16.80/hour)

Assist and monitor the physical, environmental, and security conditions and general maintenance of the building, property, facility outdoor grounds and indoor facilities at the PG Sports & Learning Complex. Minimum Qualification: Excellent customer service; interpersonal skills to relate to diverse groups, and problem solving and good organizational skills. Routine responsibilities include setups/breakdowns for classes, meetings, and events; maintenance and preventive measures of interior and exterior of building; inspections to ensure trash/debris is picked up and disposed of; walkway, path, entry, and parking lot lighting is operational, as well as monitor and secure interior/exterior doors and meeting space when not in use. Snow Removal Team - As needed.

Operations Lead Tradesman ($15.00/hour - $16.80/hour)

Job Description: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical Tradesman - Responsible for maintaining, repair, troubleshooting, installation, adjusting and replacement of mechanical equipment as needed. Prioritize and schedule work. Provide technical analysis and guidance. Assist technicians and contractors in troubleshooting systems. Monitor safety practices to ensure procedures are followed. Order and maintain inventory. Assist with maintaining work area cleanliness and equipment by performing weekly safety checks and promoting safety awareness at all times. Working Characteristics: Able to perform independently as well as part of a team; professional certificates in applicable trade; organized and strong ability to meet deadlines; strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask; strong communication skills; able to lift at least 50 Lbs.; and on-call if needed.

Gymnastics Instructor ($15.00/hour - $15.52/hour)
Gymnastics Instructor has the responsibility to provide professional gymnastics instruction to participants while adhering to safety policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Ability/desire to work with children; some gymnastics background; and ability to work as part of a professional team. Key Responsibilities: Assist instructors with all class activities; assist participants with bathroom breaks, putting on shoes, etc.; assist with gym cleanliness and maintenance; attend all classes scheduled to teach; maintain and promote safety awareness at all times; follow all policies and procedures as stated in the employee handbook; attend all relevant meetings, workshops, and continuing education programs as required by the Gymnastics Manager; display a professional, pleasant, courteous attitude at all times; substitute when needed; and tear down and set-up for competitions.

Gymnastics Instructor, LEVEL TWO ($15.00/hour - $16.25/hour)

The Level Two Gymnastics Instructor has the responsibility to participate as a member of the PG Sports & Learning staff by providing professional gymnastics instruction while adhering to safety policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 2 years teaching/coaching gymnastics experience; participation in competitive or recreation gymnastics; ability to teach all levels of classes; ability to work effectively with children; and ability to work as part of a professional team. Key Responsibilities: Lead/instruct class activities; attend all classes scheduled to teach; prepare lesson plans for each class following curriculum/safety guidelines; maintain gym cleanliness and equipment maintenance; be available to assist parents with any questions, concerns, problems that they may have; maintain and promote safety awareness at all times; manage floor by assisting instructors/parents when requested; follow all policies and procedures as stated in the employee handbook; attend all relevant meetings, workshops, and continuing education programs as required by the Gymnastics Manager; and display a professional, pleasant, courteous attitude at all times.

Gymnastics Instructor, LEVEL THREE ($16.50/hour - $35.00/hour)

The Level Three Gymnastics Instructor has the responsibility to participate as a member of the PG Sports & Learning staff by providing professional gymnastics instruction while adhering to safety policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 5 years teaching/coaching gymnastics experience; participation in competitive or recreation gymnastics; ability to teach all levels of classes; ability to work effectively with children; ability to work as part of a professional team; CPR/First Aid certification; and USAG Member with Safety Certification. Key Responsibilities: Lead/instruct class activities; attend all classes scheduled to teach; prepare lesson plans for each class following curriculum/safety guidelines; maintain gym cleanliness and equipment maintenance; be available to assist parents with any questions, concerns, problems that may arise; manage floor by assisting instructors/parents when requested; maintain and promote safety awareness at all times; follow all policies and procedures as stated in the employee handbook; attend all relevant meetings, workshops, and continuing education programs as required by the Gymnastics Manager; and display a professional, pleasant, courteous attitude at all times.

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.
