Accountabilities:

 

Primarily accountable for speed and accuracy (including ethical standards) of execution of purchasing orders as well as other payment methods.

 

Specific accountabilities include but are not limited to:

 

• Training and management of purchasing systems and procedures campus-wide.

• Maintaining department website.

• Coordination and management of major procurement projects as assigned.

• Providing effective customer service.

• Vendor accountability including, but not limited to timeliness, cost efficiency, quality and ethics as assigned.

• Generating, completing and monitoring campus-wide agreements as assigned.

• Accurate and timely reporting and information gathering related to key department functions as assigned.

• Providing backup support in the absence of key staff within the department.

• Responsible for decision making on behalf of the department for assigned bid processes.

• Responsible for operation of Purchasing department in the absence of Director.

• Supporting and implementing departmental goals.

 

Professional Experience/Qualifications

 

• Three or more years’ experience at the Senior Buyer level or equivalent combination of experience required.

• Familiarity with purchasing information systems and corresponding best practices.

• Proven ability to successfully implement best practices policies and procedures.

• Demonstrated expertise in both Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, and experience using and learning other accounting and financial systems.

• Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.

• Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students within a university setting.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Experience in higher education.

• Experience with Banner Finance and Unimarket

• Experienced in supplier management.

• Experience in conducting RFP’s.

• Experience with data analysis.

• Experience with contract development, negotiation, and review.

 

Education

 

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, or a combination of education and work experience from which comparable skills have been obtained.
