Part-Time Opportunities

The Show Place Arena/Prince George's Equestrian Center is a multipurpose facility owned and operated by The Maryland- National Capital Park & Planning Commission. Part-time opportunities are located at The Show Place Arena/Prince George's Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, Md. Work hours are flexible and include evenings, nights and weekends.

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

Salary range of $15.00/hour - $16.80/hour depending on position and experience.

Examples of Important Duties

Opportunities include:
FACILITY OPERATIONS STAFF

Event Preparation/General Maintenance/Grounds Maintenance - Set up and tear down events. Cleans and stocks bathrooms and maintains supplies during events. Empties trash and ash cans and office recyclable materials. General cleaning of the facility. Keeps ramps and sidewalks free of snow and debris. Cleans around building and parking lots. May be required to clean horse stalls and perform general maintenance of buildings. May be required to perform grounds maintenance including mowing, weeding, etc. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Must have the ability to effectively interact with the public and provide courteous service. Must be able to work evenings and/or nights, including weekends.

GROUNDS OPERATIONS

(1) Staff/Grounds Person

Operates tractor and drags rings to client specifications. Cleans horse stalls, removes trash on grounds and parking lots, and cleans bathrooms and horse show office. Assists with snow removal and general maintenance of buildings and grounds. Grounds maintenance includes mowing, weeding, etc. May be asked to assist with Arena event set up and tear down. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Will require working weekends and evenings.

(2) Event Staff/Grounds Person

Must have a Class B CDL and the ability to obtain a Tanker Endorsement in order to operate the tank truck. Performs all duties of the Grounds Operations Program Facility Manager Aide II job description. Must have the ability to effectively interact with the client and the public and provide courteous service. Will require working weekends and evenings.

GUEST SERVICES

(1) Usher/Ticket Taker-Guest Relations/Guest Services/Safety & Security

Provides information and assistance to arena guests. Checks tickets and shows guests to proper seats, including accessible needs patrons. Secures specific exit doors and assigned areas. Helps to enforce building safety procedures. Scans tickets for admittance. Assists in managing ingress/egress of front entrances and other controlled entry locations. Assists with relocations, complaints and compliments of guests. Assists with Will Call distribution. Monitors lobby area during events. May assist with answering phones during events. Must have the ability to effectively interact with the public and provide courteous service. Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some daytime hours.

(2) Ticket Seller - Ticket Selling/Ticket Taking/Guest Services

Must have previous Ticketmaster or ticketing experience. Sells computerized tickets. Reconciles all transactions from sales after each event. Assists with relocations and guest complaints. Pulls and sorts Will Calls, guests lists and passes. Assists with Will Call distribution. Scans tickets for admittance. Provides information to guests. May assist with answering phones during events. Must have the ability to effectively interact with the public and provide courteous service. Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some daytime hours.

This position does not provide benefits.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
