Leaf River Energy Center, a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources is seeking an Operator to operate gas handling, leaching system and auxiliary equipment at assigned facility to attain specific pressure and flow rates. Duties involved working around high pressure (up to 3500 psig) natural gas and/or water/brine systems.

Major Responsibilities:
• Starts, stops or regulates gas handling equipment in order to meet required pressures and flow rates for storage operations
• Starts, stops or regulates leaching equipment in order to meet required pressures and flow rates for leaching (SMUG) operations
• Conducts requires inspections of all operating gas handling and leaching equipment and systems during assigned shift; reports in writing any major malfunctions or symptoms of failures
• Properly, legibly and accurately records all equipment operating data; accurately prepares required reports and forwards to appropriate company personnel
• Adjusts equipment to maintain maximum operating efficiency of the gas handling and leaching facilities; schedules and performs minor repairs to equipment as needed. Coordinators major repairs or equipment/facility inspections by third parties.
• Operates and maintains valves and vale operators of various types of sizes throughout plan and pipeline systems. Responds to One Calls as needed. Conducts maintenance and inspections on pipeline facilities, and other plan equipment when requested
• Advises and assists other personnel in performing various tasks, technical and non-technical as requested
• Briefs oncoming Operator of all current operating conditions, difficulties encountered and known unusual conditions in the performance of leaching and/or plant equipment
• Requires spending at least 60% of work time in the field inspecting facilities, monitoring operational and construction activities
• Participates in Company sponsored technical training programs and cross-training assignments to improve knowledge and skills
• May be placed "On Call" by area supervisor; while "On Call" must remain accessible by phone or pager
• Accepts changes in work schedule, available for shift work, subject to call outs as determined by area supervisor
• Performs various duties to maintain the Company's buildings, facilities, equipment and right-of-ways, for neat and orderly appearances. (Examples include mowing, weed trimming, cleaning compressors and building, cleaning and routine service of vehicles and lawn equipment, janitorial maintenance of office.)
• Complies with Company policies and procedures as well as applicable State and Federal safety and environmental regulations
• Promotes relations with customers, producers and landowners, and cooperates with other departments
• Work in team environment and available for shift work
• Keeps company property and work area cleaned and maintained

Position Requirements:
• High School graduate or GED
• Minimum of 2 years work experience in maintaining equipment and operations associated with the process of leaching and/or natural gas facilities
• Mathematical proficiency and legible handwriting for the purpose of report preparation to outside agencies and management
• Ability to prepare written reports in a clear and concise manner
• Basic knowledge of leaching, smugging, gas handling/processing equipment
• Basic understanding of computers
• Knowledge of the principles of spark ignition piston type engines, internal combustion engines, and gas processing equipment
• Knowledge of water facilities, water and disposal wells, and/or salt cavern leaching
• Knowledge of Gas Pipeline Safety Rules and Regulations and OSHA Standards for General Industry and Standards for Construction Industry
• Valid driver's license and safe driver's record; must maintain valid driver's license
• Lift and carry medium to heavy weight items. Reach overhead for items, stoop, bend and twist while working. Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force frequently
• Other physical activities include crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual activity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to operate a computer
