Description Brookside Gardens, a Montgomery Parks facility, seeks a seasonal employee to assist with private events and rentals at the Gardens. The position is year-round, with most events happening within the March-October time period. We seek an energetic person who enjoys being outside, interacting with people, and who has an outstanding work ethic with great attention to detail. The preferred applicant will have basic knowledge of how an event runs and experience working a variety of events, but on-the-job training will also be provided, as necessary. Working conditions: Primarily works outside. Exposed to weather, wildlife, and potentially harmful insects (for example, bees, hornets, wasps, etc.) Must be able to stand for a duration. Works independently and as part of a team. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Must be available evenings and weekends. A minimum of 32 hours per month from April-October is required. Supplemental Information: This position is not eligible for benefits. Fingerprinting and background investigation will be completed prior to hire. THE MARYLAND-NATIONAL CAPITAL PARK AND PLANNING COMMISSION 2025 BENEFIT SUMMARY FOR SEASONAL INTERMITTENT EMPLOYEES The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change. Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees Health Insurance Plans You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period. If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office. Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
