The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is looking for Commission-Based Golf Instructors for the Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division in Prince Georges County.

Days/Time and Horus/Time duration: Monday-Sunday, A.M., and P.M. Possibility (5-8 hours/day) hours will vary according to time of year and program schedule.

Job Description:
Instruction of high-quality, measurable, and engaging golf learning experiences for patrons of varying ages and skill levels. Conduct lessons in accordance with established lesson plans and approved golf instruction methods and techniques. Golf Instructors in this position can earn additional compensation based on the number of clients and lessons taught.

All positions start at a salary of $15.00. A higher salary is contingent on a person's education, certification, and work experience.

Examples of Important Duties

  • Golf Instructors are responsible for teaching, coaching, and motivating golfers of varying age and skill levels, ranging from beginner to advanced, in an individual or group lesson format
  • Develop, prepare, and deliver well-organized lesson plans and teaching techniques to provide productive feedback focused on improving student golfing ability and understanding of the game of golf
  • Provide and communicate timely programming schedule and facility area and equipment needs prior to the start of all lessons
  • Maintain regular and timely coordination of lessons with golf course facility to ensure smooth synchronous operation of classes with golf course activities and operating hours

Minimum Qualifications

  • PGA Member, PGA Apprentice, USGTF Certified or First Tee Level One (1) certification or higher
  • Only instructors and/or staff who have been hired by our facility's management team and approved to teach group and private lessons are permitted to provide instruction at department golf courses. Outside private instructors are not permitted to train anyone at our golf facilities or to use any of our equipment in connection with unauthorized instruction.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
