The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is looking for Golf Program Instructors (First Tee, PGA Jr. League, Camps, Clinics, and Classes)for the Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division in Prince Georges County.

Days/Time and Hours/Time duration:
Monday-Sunday, A.M, and P.M. Possibility (5-8 hours/day) hours will vary by season and program schedule.

Job Description:
Our program golf instructors teach and coach life skills, technical golf skills and all aspects of the game of golf to student groups ranging from youth to adult ages. Our Program Golf Instructors are committed to programs for golfers of all skill levels and will work with the Jr. Golf coordinator to lead and support both class and competitive/tournament learning environments. Our programs are taught in a fun and engaging way using a combination of both traditional golf and non-traditional methods.

All positions start at a salary of $15.00. A higher salary is contingent on a person's education, certification, and work experience.

Examples of Important Duties

  • Teach golf skills and stewardship through mentorship and instruction to golfers of varying ages and skill levels
  • Maintain and ensure proper usage and storage of class equipment
  • Maintain active certifications and eligibility requirements to remain in good standing with MNCPPS policies
  • Develop and Implement class/practice sessions and lead team matches
  • Conduct classes and clinics in accordance with established lesson plans and approved golf instruction methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrate and adhere to commonly accepted standards of golfing etiquette and sportsmanship

Minimum Qualifications

  • PGA Member, PGA Apprentice, USGTF Certified or First Tee Level One (1) certification or higher
  • Only instructors and/or staff who have been hired by our facility's management team and approved to teach group and private lessons are permitted to provide instruction at department golf courses. Outside private instructors are not permitted to train anyone at our golf facilities or to use any of our equipment in connection with unauthorized instruction.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
