THE POSITION

The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a best-in-class payroll and time & attendance team seeking to deliver superior services for Honeywell across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. This role's key objectives include being an expert in the field of payroll (insourced and outsourced), time and attendance, vendor management, reporting and automation. Responsible for leading the strategic vision and delivery execution of payroll timelines and deliverables, addressing internal and external business changes, market challenges and/or regulator issues. The role will drive and lead payroll automation and digitization in processes including projects for efficiency and improved processing and net pay accuracy. Additionally, the role is responsible for advanced reporting to provide visibility to spend, risk areas, severance, and other payments.

Strategic design and successful implementations of time and attendance systems and other HRS activities/projects through the team with a consistent delivery process. This role will lead multifunctional teams, responsible for delivering comprehensive solutions for end users. The role will define and implement service strategies to optimize the customer experience while delivering on operational efficiency. This position is part of the HR Services leadership team and will report to the VP HR Services Operations - Global Payroll.

The role needs to flex between strategic vision, payroll compliance, operational oversight and project management and implementation. Frequent interactions with senior leaders, HR Business Partners, and members of the HR Service centers are expected. The leader will partner with the regional teams to identify opportunities to leverage best practices to manage and facilitate the North American payroll delivery model to drive business results. Working with business and HR leaders, responsible to apply creativity and problem-solving techniques to implement critical payroll strategies and processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversight and responsibility for regional time, attendance and payroll, including compliance to legal and regulatory requirements (United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada).
    • Ensures all payroll and legislative deadlines are met across the payroll portfolio managing exceptions as necessary
    • Keeps up to date with statutory, legislative, revenue impacts on the payroll environment and communicate to the team
    • Escalates unresolved issues to Global Payroll Leader as appropriate
  • Leads all aspects of people management within the team
    • Creating a work environment for employee engagement
    • Effective management of the North American payroll teams within span and layer constraints
    • Coordinate resources for providing functional and technical Payroll expertise to the business at all levels, including production support, data analysis, customer issue resolution and troubleshooting
    • Focuses on fostering an environment where employees are engaged to do their work ; Prioritizes workload and aligns resources
  • Process Optimization
    • Optimization of payroll processes to reduce cycle time (eg: 3 calcs to 2 calcs)
    • Adherence to business commitments all projects (eg: OOC schedule reductions, M&A, NDA)
    • Interface with up/down stream systems and tools for efficient processes
    • Drive permanent fixes to issues (lessons learned, no repetitive failures)
    • Improve HR processes and support functional excellence for the global payroll team
  • Strategy & technology
    • Assess the current support model and development of strategy to ensure seamless support of Payroll solutions
    • Mobilize technical resources to ensure a positive bottom-line impact
    • Manage the overall coordination of the payroll platform migrations and implementations in the region ensuring quality and controls are in place
    • Lead integration between different systems and the Payroll application across business groups in the region
    • Manage M&A activity and ensure that Payroll applications are delivered and incorporated into local business processes
      • Responsible for championing technical governance, management of payroll application project portfolio, resources, metrics, and reporting
    • Identifies, prioritizes and implements process improvements across the entities served (externally) and in metrics and controls procedures (internally)
    • Provides functional expertise and leads transition projects during new acquisitions and activities related to increasing market share
    • Leads process improvement projects to enable productivity and customer satisfaction gains
  • Manage key stakeholders:
    • Manage the interaction with other internal regional and global service delivery groups
    • Acts as point of escalation for the team and customers ensuring effective handling and resolution of issues
    • Manages relationships with assigned key HR and Finance leaders, assuring transition plans are in line with business priorities
    • Partners with Business Units to implement digital business solutions
  • Maintain and report service levels:
    • Tracks performance and measure operations to ensure that payroll delivers on requirements
    • Assesses and provides feedback regarding HR field leadership satisfaction with service level
    • Delivers monthly operations reports and reports out to Human Resources leadership as requested.
Relocation Offered

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, HR or similar discipline
  • 5+ years of experience with payroll, time or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience working in a HR Services or Finance role
  • Experience leading in a large organization
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other HR systems or technologies (SAP and Peoplesoft experience a plus)
  • Bias towards process improvement and streamlining of data workflow
  • Knowledge of Information Protection and Data Privacy legislation for the region
  • People management skills including management of remote and virtual teams
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels in organization

PREFERRED
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar discipline
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local payroll policies and procedures, or similar relevant experience
  • Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Extensive human resources experience
