In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration's (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. Primary Responsibilities:

Provides support to highly technical and advanced manufacturing processes typically requiring specialized qualifications, knowledge and/or skill. Performs project management and design, development, evaluation, and quality control functions on highly complex analytical/engineering projects, regularly offering innovative solutions to significant technical problems. Applies mathematical, scientific, and advanced engineering technologies in accomplishing objectives. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.
  • Recognized authority within area of expertise with wide versatility of experience and capability.
  • Performs project planning and manages project resources, including multiple individuals and disciplines, to achieve quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Conducts research and development experiments to resolve complex problems involving highly technical and scientific methods.
  • Writes technical reports on results and conclusions drawn from experiments conducted and incorporates findings in formal specifications.
  • Estimates set-up times, flowtimes, costs of production and acceptance equipment, and compiles cost estimates and delivery quotations, monitors performance, and prepares reports, statistics, and recommendations for management review.
  • Participates in establishing operating procedures on new products and components.
  • Plans and performs testing and development programs and uses advanced statistical and scientific methods to address and resolve critical engineering and production problems to assure product manufacturability.
  • Originates, refines, and releases complex manufacturing or inspection work directions.
  • Determines acceptability of processes and materials in conjunction with design agency, quality, and other affected organizations.
  • Interacts with design agency and/or supplier counterparts to resolve moderate to complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
  • Based on research, applies, develops, and recommends innovative methodologies and technologies which are equal to the industry's state of the art to resolve processing and design problems.
  • Provides technical consultation to management and others and leads technical project teams.
  • Responsible for work that may involve longer range and/or complex business objectives in field of expertise.
  • Evaluates and implements innovations and technological advances that improve quality, reduce flowtime, improve productivity, and enhance operational surety.
  • Performs highly complex calibration and measurement services, recommends changes in calibration procedures to improve services, and solves special measurement problems.
  • May perform other duties as required.

You Must Have:
  • US citizenship in order to obtain and maintain US Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Physics, or equivalent.
  • Seven or more years of relevant experience in engineering of products or processes
We Value:
  • Seven or more years of relevant experience in a role related to testing and analysis in an analytical sciences laboratory, including application of advanced engineering principles and technology related to highly complex technical assignments.
  • Advanced degree in Chemistry or Physics preferred.
  • Four years of demonstrated material science knowledge and application experience.
  • Possesses knowledge and experience in conducting surface characterization and failure analysis on multiple material types using Scanning Electron Microscopy and Electron Backscatter Diffraction.
  • Significant contributor to the completion of laboratory goals and work order execution. Able to assess the linkages between work orders and product realization team goals and deliverables.
  • Serves as advisor/mentor in areas of laboratory process, analysis, and reporting expertise to less experienced.
  • Conducts research and development experiments to resolve complex problems involving highly technical and scientific methods.
  • Supports Product Realization Teams to resolve moderate to complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
  • Ability to work without supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making.
