Are you passionate about ceramics and excited to share your expertise with aspiring artists? We are currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic Ceramics Instructor to join our creative team. If you have a strong background in ceramics techniques and a passion for teaching, this is an exciting opportunity for you to inspire and guide students in their artistic journey!

Examples of Important Duties

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive ceramics classes and workshops for students of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced.
  • Instruct students in various ceramics techniques, including hand-building, wheel throwing, glazing, and kiln firing.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques and provide hands-on guidance to students, helping them refine their skills and unleash their creativity.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to explore their own artistic style and express themselves through ceramics.
  • Plan and organize special projects, themed workshops, and exhibitions to showcase students' work and promote their artistic growth.
  • Stay updated on current trends, advancements, and innovations in ceramics, integrating them into the curriculum to enhance the learning experience.
  • Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and safety of ceramics equipment, tools, and materials in the studio.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong background and expertise in ceramics techniques, including hand-building, wheel throwing, glazing, and kiln firing.
  • Proven experience as a Ceramics Instructor, Pottery Teacher, or similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students of all ages and skill levels.
  • Passion for teaching and inspiring students to explore their creativity through ceramics.
  • Ability to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that fosters artistic growth and experimentation.
  • Knowledge of ceramics materials, tools, kiln operations, and safety protocols.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate different learning styles and student needs.
  • A portfolio showcasing your own ceramics artwork is preferred, but not required.

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
