Overview

AAA Life Insurance Company is seeking a Senior Risk Management Consultant! The Senior Risk Management Consultant will be responsible for obtaining and establishing risk selection guidelines to ensure mortality pricing and risk assumptions are met. This position is the primary liaison to assure that established mortality and expense assumptions are effectively implemented and monitors results through appropriate audit and reporting methods.

Responsibilities

  • Running the post issue audit program for AAA Life including - identifying cases, ordering APSs/EHR or other sources of data, reviewing evidence and reporting aggregated results.
  • Supporting risk management activities including analyzing and reporting results from various monitoring programs. Providing inputs into improving mortality and reducing slippage.
  • Work in conjunction with the actuaries running studies on new sources of data sources and evaluating their cost benefit from the point of underwriting.
  • Supporting change management efforts to deploy new data sources and solutions.
  • Training and mentoring underwriters.
  • Participating in projects and initiatives based on the needs of the business.
  • Representing the company at industry events, partner meetings and sales meetings etc.
  • Underwriting cases as per needs of business.
  • Supporting management on escalations and complaints as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • FLMI or FALU designation preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years underwriting experience required, including underwriting substandard risks.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in various aspects of risk management including monitoring accelerated underwriting programs, random holdouts, post issue monitoring, agent monitoring, etc.
  • Previous experience with reinsurance underwriting manuals.
  • Adept in reviewing medical records, APS, EHR, prescription histories, medical billing info lab results, MIB, MVR etc.
  • Has participated in studies and pilots to evaluate new data sources.
  • Proven success in training and mentoring underwriters including change management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Success preparing and delivering presentations to underwriters and management.
