Seasonal Instructor - Teach Minnesota

St. Cloud, Minnesota

TNTP seeks Seasonal Instructors for Teach Minnesota. This position is based in St. Cloud and is available from April 2024 for evening training with longer daytime hours beginning in June.

What You'll Do

Seasonal Instructors lead skill-building sessions focused on building content knowledge and pedagogy, ensuring Fellows have high quality opportunities to both learn and practice the skills. In addition, Instructors design and facilitate sessions that support Fellows' ability to plan and execute instruction.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Internalize TNTP's culture and instructional sessions to act as an expert in TNTP's Fast Start model for first year teacher training.
  • Plan and deliver daily skill-building sessions based on the science of reading and math for Fellows including:
    • Expertly modeling research-backed teaching techniques
    • Providing targeted, actionable feedback to Fellows on their practice of the techniques
    • Maintaining high levels of session rigor through skillful facilitation
  • Plan and facilitate collaborative planning sessions for Fellows that include designing and leading weekly lesson planning sessions that support Fellows' acquisition of instructional planning skills.
  • Identify and communicate trends in Fellow performance to Teacher Development Coaches
  • Meet with other PST team members to plan meaningful training activities and norm on Fellow performance standards.


Additionally, based on experience, some instructor's responsibilities may include:
  • Planning and/or revising sessions that will help improve Fellow performance
  • Mentoring and/or coaching other instructors
  • Facilitating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Sessions

Instructors are experienced educators who demonstrate a track record of success working with students in high-need schools, hold high expectations for students and teachers, and have strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum two years of successful teaching experience in Special Education ABS (preferred) or Elementary Education (required)
  • Strong familiarity and experience with the Minnesota Standards of Effective Practice, Special Education ABS Standards, and Elementary Education Standards (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire students and adults.
  • Experience and comfort providing direct, in-the-moment feedback to teachers, both written and verbal, that leads to immediate improvement, and comfort modeling teaching strategies with adults.
  • Experience in facilitating effective training experiences for adult learners
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with adult learners quickly and to build strong working and mentoring relationships
  • Exceptional skills in time management, including the ability to balance priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • A positive outlook, flexibility, and sense of possibility in stressful situations
  • Evidence of working successfully in teams or cooperative settings
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to utilize quantitative and qualitative analysis to support decision-making

Instructors will be compensated in the range of $35-$38 per hour. Time Commitment

Instructors can expect 20-30 hours of training total in the spring over the course of several weeks. During the summer, Instructors can expect to work in the afternoons no more than 20-35 hours per week.
