Description The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, Natural and Historic Resources Division is currently seeking applicants to serve as a Rental Program Assistant for the M-NCPPC Black History Program. This is a part-time year-round position. The M-NCPPC Black History Program (BHP) preserves, honors, and celebrates black history in Prince George's County through original research, exhibitions, collections management, educational programming, and historic property stewardship. BHP's signature programs include an annual Black History Month exhibition, the countywide Juneteenth celebration, and events commemorating Maryland Emancipation Day. BHP oversees four historic properties located throughout Prince George's County, which document the African American experience: Abraham Hall, Concord Manor, Dorsey Chapel, and the Ridgeley Rosenwald School. This candidate will support the M-NCPPC Black History Program in upholding the four strategic pillars of the Natural and Historic Resources Division (NHRD). Successful candidates for this position will primarily serve as event staff for rentals held at Dorsey Chapel. Located in Glenn Dale, MD, Dorsey Chapel is a popular historic rental facility managed by the M-NCPPC Black History Program. Clients book the chapel for a variety of intimate gatherings, notably church services and weddings. The facility is open for rentals seven days a week from 9 am - 6 pm. Limited opportunities may also be available for the successful candidate to serve as event staff for non-rental events organized by the M-NCPPC Black History Program at various locations in Prince George's County, MD. This position pays at a rate of $15.00/hour to $16.00/hour. Hours vary by month based upon the number of rental clients and other planned events. The successful candidate will generally work from 5 - 20 hours per month based upon need and availability. Examples of Important Duties

This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change. Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees Health Insurance Plans You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period. If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office. Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
