Resp & Qualifications

PURPOSE:

Serves as the administrative "front line" for CareFirst's short- and long-term community investments to advance the company's mission to pursue health equity by addressing social determinants of health. Engages employees and other internal stakeholders in giving and volunteer activities to optimize community impact. Strategically leverages CareFirst's assets, authentically engaging communities and a diverse set of stakeholders to measurably improve the health, economic, social and/or environmental quality of life in the Region.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Administers philanthropic investments: Facilitates CareFirsts long-term community investments by triaging requests, conducting due diligence and presenting information to make recommendations on which investments to fund or decline. Engages with RFP content experts, coordinating the evaluation of RFP proposals and summary of RFP proposals. For approved investments, confirming the funding award and monitoring the financial process to ensure timely processing of payments to nonprofit organizations and partners.

Provides Event Support: Coordinates events management, representing the company on all activities leading up to, during and after onsite community events, celebrations and galas. Maximizes participation for key stakeholders, engaging social media and other corporate image related platforms. Leverages internal business partners on invitations, ads, event branding and facilitates employee participation to optimize community engagement and impact.

Supports Investment Budget and Portfolio Management: Collaborates across the enterprise to support accurate data input and coding of all giving. Monitors monthly financial reports, track progress toward annual financial targets of grants, and troubleshoot issues related to accounting and budgeting. Supports portfolio reporting, including monthly and annual reports, press releases, and internal and external communications.

Facilitates CHSI Thought Leadership: Contributes to the thought leadership and evaluation of community investments and supports the presentation of summary data to enable executive decision making. Participates in relevant philanthropic and health workgroups with external organizations. Keeps abreast of new approaches to addressing social determinants of health, health equity, and philanthropy to inform portfolio strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Public health, marketing, business or related filed OR In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Experience: 3 years progressively responsible professional experience in public health or closely related field

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in advertising, communications, business or related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Aptitude for community building, interacting across diverse stakeholders strategically, tactically, and analytically,
  • Excellent organizational skills and project management skills to manage multiple complex work deliverables simultaneously.
  • Ability to utilize standard corporate systems for word processing, data analysis and calendar management.
  • Maintain contemporary skills and knowledge within the field of philanthropy social determinants of health and health equity.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and to stay current/relevant on social determinants of health and health equity issues.
  • Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time. Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

    Salary Range: $61,560 - $122,265

This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilites of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration.
