Overview

AAA Life is seeking a Senior Data Scientist, Data Science that is a hands-on leader responsible for the analysis of customer data/information used to explain customer behavior and inform business strategy to improve profitability, sales, and decision-making across all customer touchpoints. This includes building data products and predictive models and performing sophisticated analysis to predict purchases and policy lapses.

The Senior Data Scientist is a champion for analytics within the organization and is responsible for training and mentoring members of the analytics team and keeping abreast of industry best practices and ensuring that they are appropriately leveraged across AAA Life Insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement experimentation best practices, statistical methodologies, and scalable frameworks to facilitate the creation, monitoring, and learning from experiments.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal users of the experimentation platform, comprehending their preferences and experiences to enable them to conduct rapid, reliable online experiments through various means such as training sessions, office hours, documentation, and ad-hoc assistance.
  • Offer expert consultation on test design, including power analysis, metric selection, hypothesis formulation, rollout criteria definition, anomaly detection, and manual test result interpretation.
  • Ensure data and computation quality by devising monitoring and alerting mechanisms to detect spillovers and biases and providing guidance on systematically identifying root causes.
  • Integrate metrics directly onto the platform to enhance computation scalability and enable automated readouts, utilizing statistical methods and dashboards to mitigate false discoveries through rigorous multiple-comparison techniques.
  • Establish templates and procedures for standardized communication and dissemination of test results and expand knowledge sharing through a centralized repository.
  • Develop and implement data science models to quantify annualized incremental lift on key output metrics such as revenue and create models to assess long-term impact.
  • Investigate and propose various testing capabilities and causal inference techniques (e.g., A/B/n testing, holdback, pre-post, MAB, targeted delivery) based on pertinent use cases.
  • Collaborate with the existing experimentation platform provider to prioritize experimentation use cases, and periodically assess the latest experimentation platforms available in the market.
  • Define methodologies and metrics for evaluating the success of the platform and programs, and communicate these metrics to senior leadership, ensuring visibility and transparency regarding ongoing experiments and their impact on key metrics.
  • Research innovations in technology and modeling techniques that can improve AAA Life's ability to market to its customers. Report on management feasibility of use within AAA Life Insurance Company.
  • Own cross-channel attribution modeling and reporting
  • Partner with the Actuarial team to incorporate risk and mortality into models and analysis.
  • Partner with the finance and operations teams to identify opportunities to reduce costs or improve efficiencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Masters' degree in Probability and Statistics, Operations Research, Linear Programming, Computer Programming, Economics, Finance, and Marketing is required.
  • Minimum 7 years' prior work experience with CRM/Database Marketing/Analytics Consulting, Data Mining, Statistical Model Development, Consumer Research
  • Experience with market-leading 3P experimentation platforms like Optimizely, Adobe Target, AB Tasty, Statsig, etc. or in-house experimentation platform are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with financial, health or similarly complex and regulated data at the individual level.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in relational database, SQL, and statistical programming (R or Python preferred).
  • Demonstrated expertise in data wrangling, processing, and developing, tuning, and validating predictive data models.
  • Direct experience applying appropriate algorithms to manage, access and develop data products against large, sophisticated datasets.
  • Insurance or member organization experience is a plus.
