Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Specialist, Rehabilitation Regulatory & Compliance.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for participation in regulatory compliance initiatives that focus on Rehabilitation care delivery and ensures compliance with the regulatory mandates of The Joint Commission (TJC), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), New York State Department of Health (NYS-DOH) and other regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies pertinent to the areas of responsibilities. This will include all compliance related issues, daily operations and related workflow projects to ensure the compliance of our clinical programs and patient safety. This position will also be working with Rehab services clinical leadership to ensure appropriate levels of compliance occur throughout the entire Rusk Rehab department. Direction will be supported by the Program Manager and Director of Rehab Regulatory and Compliance.

Job Responsibilities:
    1. Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's mission and core values and incorporates them into the performance of duties
    2. Interprets and keeps current with all relevant Federal and State regulatory and accrediting agency updates, regulations, and requirements.
    3. Ensures implementation of current and new policies and procedures based on new regulations and requirements and/or evidence-based practice changes.
    4. Monitors compliance to operational processes/ activities to assure compliance with standards and facilitate ongoing survey readiness.
    5. Participates in performance of inpatient and outpatient chart audits and monitors implementation of corrective actions.
    6. Actively participates in ongoing regulatory rounds and site visits including observation, interview, and medical record review to engage staff and assess compliance.
    7. Participates in staff compliance related training and education in inpatient and outpatient units and programs; performs activities with diligence and thoroughness in order to facilitate staff learning.
    8. Develops and provides communications, trainings and education based on clinical and regulatory updates and identified clinical and regulatory gaps.
    9. Monitors all required compliance related reports, work queues.
    10. Produces the necessary quantitative data i.e. audit data, report summaries and performs effective, objective and detailed analysis for effective use and decision making with the ability to summarize information into a tangible format to assist management team in decision making.
    11. Participates in EMR optimization and process improvement projects.
    12. Attends relevant conferences and continuing education: seeks certifications as appropriate to ensure current knowledge of all regulatory requirements and updates.
    13. Assists in all Rehab Regulatory and Compliance related activities as determined by the Program Manager and Director of Rehab Compliance.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Masters degree in PT, OT, or SLP with current New York State license, registration, or certificate appropriate to profession.
Minimum of four years experience in a rehabilitation setting, including excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential secondary to significant interactions with department administrators, physicians and clinical staff.

Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of one year of supervisory or administrative experience.
Involvement in continuing education courses related to the delivery of health care service specific to their profession, and in issues of regulations.
Proficiency in excel and EMRs

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $112,951.35 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
