Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ultrasound Technologist, Per Diem / General Sonography.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Ultrasound Technologist may be responsible depending on work location for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, reports of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase their level of understanding & knowledge of the field, disease(s), and new procedures as they evolve.

Job Responsibilities:
    • Operates Ultrasound equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas/parts as ordered. Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by physician. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Ultrasound equipment.
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Instructs and supervises ultrasound students in a clinical practicum. Works with the ultrasound student to perform exams as well as performing individual image evaluation.
    • Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies. Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
    • Accurately utilizes systems. Enters proper exam coding. Arrives and completes exams in a timely fashion.
    • Accurately utilizes the PACS system to make images available to the physician for interpretation. Technologist creates a minimum number of exceptions.
    • Prepares patient using proper positioning and/or immobilizing patients and giving them proper instructions regarding procedure. Quality review of the technologist s images fall within guidelines of departmental SOP. Technologist is observed to give clear and concise instruction to the patient before beginning an exam.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have a Technical Diploma Graduate of an accredited two-year Ultrasound Program, required. Registered Diagnostic Sonographer OR Registered Vascular Technologist required. Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment, required. Ability to evaluate sonograms in order to acquire appropriate diagnostic information, required. Ability to follow established departmental procedures, required. Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations, required. Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position, required. Strength sufficient to: lift some patients, move heavy equipment on wheels (up to approx. 500 lbs), and to move patients in wheelchairs and stretchers required. Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning, required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree in a related field, preferred. 3 - 5 yrs of Ultrasound experience, preferred. 3 - 5 Years OB/GYN, small parts and/or vascular experience, preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $53.00 - $53.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
